This has got to be a joke. I just can't believe the OFFICIAL ps2 magazine would put this on their cover.

I'm a huge fan of the Super Monkey Ball series, so I'm planning on picking it up pretty much no matter what score the reviewers give it.

Although I think I heard that Amusement Vision didn't make this particluar game. Is that true? Or am I mixing it up with another game?

I want to point out that I don't think most of us here are defending Nintendo. I think EVERYONE here can agree that the series of "play it loud" ads were an incredibly pathetic attempt to make Nintendo look cool. I just think calling them "the vilest advertising obscenity" is too much. Yes the ads are crappy, but I don't think they're evil, or that their "message" was meant to be taken seriously.

I watched the commerical and it was stupid, and I fail to see how it is anywhere near as evil as this guy is claiming.

Um, what loud belch?

"Then, to the dulcet croonings and empathetic sentiments of, naturally, the Butthole Surfers ('We wanna be free. We wanna do what we wanna do. We wanna have a good time, and that's exactly what we're gonna do.')"

WHAT? I didn't see any of that in the video.

"Then came the suggestion to crank up Mortal Kombat, or whatever, to full volume, because it freaks out grown-ups."

Wow. That's exactly what the ad was trying to say. Because it freaks out grownups

"'Be heard,' went the slogan. 'Play it loud.'"

That's actually correct.

"At one point in the spot, the kid snarfles up a wad of phlegm and spits it at the audience, with the accompanying instruction to 'Hock a loogie at life.'"

At what point? I watched the video 10 times and couldn't see what he was talking about.

Exactly. There are a TON of non-permanent ways of putting a crosshair on your monitor.

It's ironic because Magic and Science are opposites.
