SCEE: LittleBigPlanet delayed worldwide due to Qur'an references in music

Oct 17th 2008 12:44PM (Joystiq)
That is a valid ironic point. We live in the world of the offended where you can't sneeze without offending 12 special interest groups that interpret it as messages for and/or against a certain (insert religious reference or group) The fact that they are heading this off now may be because they learned from the negative press generated last time, or they may be scared someone might blow their shit up. What was the catholic church going to do, molest more kids? (I am sooo joking, but watch people will bitch)

*Re-posted because joystiq cut off my response the first time, I must have offended them.

September NPD: $1.27b in sales, but it's no Halo 3 launch

Honestly it should be that nintendo remakes ten games a year. I fail to see the difference in any Mario kart game really. I'm all for good competition, but I am interested to see how it plays out with the PS/360 crowd playing some really great games this year and the Wii not having much to offer unless you haven't picked up Wii fit yet. One would think the novelty would wear off at some point. I probably sound more biased than I actually am. I am just tired of the casual game and plastic crap attachment craze that has been going on. That and I skipped breakfast.

Nega-review: LittleBigPlanet

Oct 15th 2008 2:44PM (Joystiq)
I will try to keep the fanboyism to a minimum here, but... I have a hard time seeing what is so appealing about this game. Seems more suited to the Wii crowd, especially if controls are an issue. Just an opinion, before I am surely beaten down by the defense force lurking in the home beta.

Joystiq interview: Bungie's Jarrard talks Halo 3: Recon, new weapons, details

Oct 15th 2008 9:09AM (Joystiq)
Relax... You know the story for this, it goes something like:
1. announcement and vague details
2. nit pick, bitch, moan, wheez, gasp by the blogging elite
3. hype hype hype and bad marketing. someone call Mountain Dew
4. more bitching by fanboys and haters alike
5. yet even more hype and a catchy commercial
6. review embargos and more bitching, plus pirating
7. game releases, sells one million plus on day one and xbox live shudders with slow down and the raving screams of cursing twelve year olds.

Just relax and breathe. Try not to expect too much and remember resistance is futile.

Lionhead: Fable 2 online co-op patch ready for day one

I am sure they were more motivated by dollars. It stands to reason that this game will open with bigger sales and better legs through the holiday season. I actually think they could give a shit less what you or anyone else says on a blog or site. Hell, I only responded to you because I am bored at work.

Current takes on homophobia in gaming

Sep 24th 2008 1:40PM (Joystiq)
I agree that the article is a very informative read. We often forget that the barrier and insulation provided by the internet can cause people to act in ways that could be regarded as insensitive and offensive to others and that most people do not conduct themselves in such ways during day to day activities such as work or social situations. I am almost embarrassed to say that I often do not even realize that I may be offending someone on XBL when playing. I could be defensive and make the excuse that I use the word "gay" as a term expressing extreme misfortune or to describe a negative unforseen occurence rather than as a slur against someone's life style choice. Perhaps it is just another word that my life style choice or ethnicity will prevent me from using in gaming, conversation, and song lyrics. If that is the case then I apologize for not being politcally correct on the subject. However, I do have a cynical side that resents the idea of everyone getting offended over everything. We live in the land of the offended where everyone breaks off into special groups that defend themselves from every other group and raise all kinds of hell over issues, that pardon my subjective opinion, are not that important in the great scheme of things. I game for entertainment and relaxation. It's a stress breaker that removes me from the constant issues I have to deal with in the day to day. I could care less what someone calls me or says over the internet. I have the power to remove myself from the situation. In conclusion, my opinion means absolutely nothing (following my own argument) but I offer it up any way and you can do with it what you like. P.S.> The Wii is gay and 90% of the games on it are shit and gay.

Metareview - Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Sep 2nd 2008 9:56AM (Joystiq)
Seriously, if you are relying on Eurogamer to "assist" you with your gaming purchases, you should score yourself low. Hmmm, that pretty much goes for any reviewers for that matter. Has the decision making process been diminished that far where "casual" gamers buy on hype ( looking at you Wii) and the "core" gamers are slaves to reviews. (looking at you PS/360) What are these reviewers so qualified that they can sway the masses? Must be those degrees in gaming studies at ITT that I see on tv. Sure we love reviews to be good and all, but be honest there are always examples where you play something and go, "Wow those reviews were full of shit." That applies to games scored high and low. Of course I could be wrong. I am trying to quit smoking and I hate everyone right now...
