Killzone 2 beta ends this Sunday

Nov 25th 2008 1:40PM (Joystiq Playstation)
This game wasn't even on my radar before but there have been a few claims lately that seem to put a lot of weight on KZ2's shoulders.

Bethesda: We're working on patching Fallout 3's glitches

Expect a patch to be released right before TES V. Only by that time, we will be whining about TES V's bugs.

Sony to require Trophies in PS3 games next year

Why would they put different achievements/trophies in the games? That sounds like more effort for no reward. Unless they consider the fanboy arguments of which system has the best achievements/trophies to be a reward.

Sony to require Trophies in PS3 games next year

I don't want to set the world on fire...

Not like Bethesda will patch trophies into Fallout 3. Or DLC (on the PS3, at least). Or, you know, bug fixes...

I'm a software developer myself, and I'd be ashamed to say that if I pumped out the crap that Bethesda does.

PSN IDs on PlayStation.com, 'Underground' closes

Irony, indeed. PS3 and 360 both have nice libraries (360 better, probably helped by the head start in this gen). The Wii hate I can agree with... need more games that aren't rentals and/or party games. And don't get me started on the DS...

I'd like so much to bitch about Joystiq's anti-PS3 slant. But, I guess the comments so far prove that the site is just catering to the 360 fanboys that dwell here. You'll be lucky to read this comment before it's greyed out by the fanboy rage.

Are you giving up your vacation for gaming?

Nov 20th 2008 9:51AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'm rounding out my first year on the job, right out of college, and I just don't think that taking the typical vacation makes sense right now. I get 2 weeks off per year, and it seems like I have two options:

1. Take my vacation time all at once. Go to another country and blow some cash. Have a good story to tell and possibly some new foreign friends. Come back and realize that it's time to get back to work, only with no vacation time in sight for a year.

2. Spread my two weeks out over the year, taking one day off at a time (Mondays, love that three day weekend). I'll sleep in, catch up on my backlog of games, and get some errands done that I can't do as easily on days I work (ie. going to the bank, which closes too early on work days). I find that I save money, even if I end up going to see a show or something on that day off. I also find that when I return to work the next day, I feel more refreshed and the week flies by more quickly (four day week!).

Maybe next year, when I've had a bonus cycle under my belt and presumably will get a bit more time off I can spend some of that time and money traveling. That doesn't mean I'll spend all my vacation time on one trip though. It just doesn't make sense when you consider that that's all the vacation time I'll get until next year.

Happy second birthday to the Nintendo Wii

Yeah, maybe 2009 will see me buy a Wii game outside of VC/WiiWare.

Holidaze 2008: PlayStation 3 SKU chart, revisited

My MGS bundle came with an 80GB PS3 with software BC and a DualShock 3 controller... the matrix shows Sixaxis.

PS3 chatpad officially coming in December

Who would really be interested in this when you can get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that works with both the PS3 and PC or other devices for less?
