Xbox outsold PS2 like three times in four years. By contrast 360 has outsold PS3 every single month so far. 360 has outsold PS3 by over 1.1 million units in the last 4 months alone (NPD figures). Hell, I would have granted you that PS3 would probably eventually win Europe, but now I dont even think that's the case, as badly as it launched in Europe the past couple days. PS3 is selling around 20k a week in Japan currently. 360 is selling more in just the USA than PS3 is selling in Japan and USA combined.

I repeat, the PS3 is a disaster of stunning proportions to this date. I dont think there's anyway it will ever catch 360 in North America, it is currently 4 million units behind and 360 is outselling it by huge amounts every month. 360 nearly doubled PS3 sales in February. And as I said I dont see it winning EU anymore either. Even I didn't think PS3 would fare just so horribly in Japan. In Japan Wii will kick it's ass.

This fall, microsoft will introduce price drops and Halo 3 (not even mentioning Mass Effect, Forza2, Shadowrun, PGR4, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyessy, Too Human, etc). The PS3 is just going to get buried by Jan 1 2008. It will be at least 5+ million units behind at that point, and no third party will dare make a PS3 exclusive game at that point. In 2008 Gears of War 2 will be a nuke. Meanwhile the 360 will just keep getting cheaper, faster than PS3 could dream of, while PS3 continues losing billions. Worse, to top it all off, the 360 probably has better graphics.

Honestly, honest truth, dont be surprised if PS3 turns into the Gamecube, or even 3D0, of it's generation. You saw DMC4 switch. Within three years if PS3's paltry sales do not pick up, I would expect third party support to start getting pulled from the console in a big way. Really, ask yourself, if Xbox360's lead keeps growing in USA and EU, what reason have publishers to support PS3? That gap is GROWING people. These things snowball.

Honestly, if I was Sony, I might start thinking about PS4 in 2009. PS3 is shaping up as one of the biggest console disasters of all time (hell, it already has been..)

Sure, maybe one day it will exceed the 360, but it certainly hasn't proved it so far.

And again, this scene is concept art until I see it running on a PS3. Even then, it's not that impressive, as we only see one chracter, no action, etc. Where Crysis has proved itself with tons of videos with awesome physics.

Another giveaway that the shot is likely concept is the AA..I dont notice any jaggies, and the PS3 is a jaggie-prone machine due to it's basic design. So I'm not sure how they suddenly shoe-horned 16XAA into it's meager bandwidth for these shots..but call me skeptical.

I dont believe it really looks this good WHILE RUNNING ON THE PS3.

In other words this is the equivalent of concept art until proven otherwise.

And as far as I am concerned, Prey is only second to GoW on the X360 in terms of graphics. If you dig deep enough, you'll find enough comparisons for all the other cross-platform games-and all of them proving the PC's graphical superiority. I bet GoW running on a PC with a X1900 would look better than the original version too, if only Epic would release a PC version.>>

Oh please, the PC version looks 5% better with "only" 2GB more RAM. Give me a break. Xbox360 runs pretty much every game so far nearly as good as the highest end PC. Sure, console cannot match things like 2GB RAM. Which cost $200 by itself, while the whole console cost $400. They also are cheaper. Go look up Rainbow Six Vegas PC benchmarks. Even a X1900 struggles with it, yet the 360 runs it fine.

Does a top end PC have more raw power? Of course, but it's also inneficient and expensive..and right now doesn't even have much more power.

But yes, I do have a 27" HDTV. The way I setup my PC is in my bedroom and the TV in the living room like most any normal family. Also it is a 720P TV which may be a bit low on the res. But yeah, if I got Crysis and not a new monitor, I would definitly move my big boxy PC from under my desk to the living room and check it out (especially since the Crysis devs have stated it is designed to play well with 360 controller on PC). Dont act like it wouldn't be a big pain in the ass though..that Tv is not good for websurfing, which means just a big pain as I'd constantly have to switch monitors/locations whenever I wasn't playing.

Where is $500? I will need 1500+. I am trying to save for a house. Maybe in the past I would blow 1500 on my PC, but I'd still feel sick about it, especially since there aren't many PC games worth playing. I could buy an AR-15 rifle and have (a lot) money left over for that price.

That's pointless cus guess what, most crappy computers will let you do all those things..but they wont play Crysis!

So in essence, you really are spending 1500+ just to play Crysis (as well as other high end PC games..that are few and far between these days).

My rig wont play Crysis worth a crap, but I can websurf and word process to my hearts content on it.

And again dont forget, there's millions of people out there with even crappier computers than me. Most people dont even have a video card..I on the other hand have a modern one. Still wont work for Crysis..

The only way Crysis is a cheap upgrade is if you already have a nice Core 2 dou rig, say a $1000 PC purchased from Best Buy in the last couple months. Then you "only" need a $3-400 graphics card for Crysis (and probably some more RAM). But a console is still same or less than that GFX card and will have many more varied games (like lost planet).

Oh and dont forget PS3 runs linux..so at least some console owners can do everything a PC can. MS could make 360 do that too if they wanted. It's just as if not more powerful than most desktop computers. They just dont want to because 360 excels at only one thing, playing games.

Consider my situation. I already have a better rig than 90% of the people out there. Yet it still will blow at Crysis.

Basically at a BARE minimum I need:

Vista, $239 (dont say no shit you got it for free, doesn't help me). Dont say buy OEM or pirate, I'm going legal and I rebuild my comp a lot so I need the retail version. And dont say play Crysis on XP, because that wont be DX 10 and wont look as good. For the "full experience" which you are bashing the consoles for not having, you need Vista/DX10.

8800GTS MIGHT be enough for this game, then again it might not. Lets say it is, and I dont need the $650 GTX. $430.

Decent mobo=$150 (I noticed that guy above used a cheapie Jetway mobo to cut a few corners...you're not fooling me. For the full deal, you're looking at as much as $180 just for the deluxe mobo you need, spending a thousand bucks on a rig and basing it on a $90 off brand mobo is stupid).

Oh, but my DDR Ram is useless now. Toss that 1GB in the trash and go buy 2GB DDR2=$200.

Realistically, at this point you'll (me) need a new power supply to feed all this. At least $60 for qaulity (can go much higher for the real brand names).

I already have a 160GB hard drive, so I'll spare that cost, even though I might as well spend another hundred and get a bigger one. Same applies to my case, another $100. I dont like my current case, but we'll make do for the sake of this argument, though in reality might as well go whole hog.

And for all that I get to play Crysis on...Joy! My old 17" 4:3 LCD!

For a nice new widscreen monitor, 20-22" again for the "full Crysis experience", it's at least another $400, but could go much much higher.

My totals add up to $1320 for the bare minimum. That's a GTS that probably barely handles the game, no new HDD or case that I want, and not counting the $400 monitor.

And the sad thing is, there's pretty much nowhere in that budget to cut corners. I could save maybe a hundred bucks by going AMD instead of Intel, but given the performance difference and already huge budget here, it'd be really stupid.

Sure, the vid card will probably drop a hundred bucks by Crysis. Big whoop...


You can get an 360 for $400, $300 really. Sure it wont match up to Crysis (when Crysis comes out in six months or more) but have you seen Gears of War? It looks better than anything on PC as of right now. Plus, you'll be able to get great looking basketball, racing, etc games, which you cant generally get on PC with the same level of graphics (maybe in a couple years..). And the 360 is the price of a top Video card alone..

On the wii, the funny thing is we here, are all hardcore, mostly male gamers. Basically Nintendo has abandoned us. They've told me I'm useless. I dont like that. It offends me. We (younger, male gamers) made this business bigger than movies. I'm sick of hearing that we're worthless all the time. And here we have plenty of hardcore gamers helping Nintendo cut our throats. They're all going "this is the system for my little sister! It'll sell millions!" Great, where does that leave YOU, dumbarse?

Nintendo fans tend to be obnoxious, they've all got this stupid story about how they invited everyone over and all the old people and women loved the Wii. Like they fucking own Nintendo and get paid for this shit or something. Seriously, they were the same way with Gamecube,I remember reading this one guy would organize gamecube parties at his college public rec room or something and post about it at forums. They were the same fucking way with Gamecube they are with Wii, like they're selling Amway or something. Just stop it. At your stupid party where everybody loved the Wii you sold to them, you know what, two hours later they're all tired of it. Because they're old, and women, and they dont like video games.


The sad thing is, the Wii could be success just based on girls buying it, and buying one game a year, and never playing it. No doubt that would make some of you happy. Not me. I dont support it, I'm against it, and I want Nintendo to go out of business because I'm sick and tired of their corporate attitude. Say what you want about microsoft, but I know the higher ups at MS understand my hardcore male gamer point of view, and that's who I'll be supporting with my dollars thanks.

And beyond all that, I still predict Wii will be a failure anyway. People already say it has no games coming because it doesn't have any graphics. And what people dont understand is, graphics create hype. Gears, nobody played Gears before it came but it was super hyped. Why? Graphics. Wii doesn't have that. That's what killed Gamecube. Gamecube had every advantage, price, software, in the beginning, but Xbox carved out the hype, because Xbox and Halo had the graphics. The grahics of the upcoming games created the hype for them, then people would say "Xbox won cus it had the hyped games". Yeah, but not at first, dufus. It created the hype through graphics.

I really think stupid Nintendo designed their whole Wii on one thing: Nintendogs. Nintendogs is what really launched the DS phenomenon, and it wasnt really doable on PSP, because you cant poke the dog with the stylus on PSP. So Nintendo went about creating a console that can play nintendogs, basically, and they think that will carry them to the win. They dont understand it's a whole different ball game in consoles. Consoles != handhelds. People care a lot more about graphics on consoles, because they're on a big TV.

Another thing is, everybody is just now switching to HDTV, and the fact is, SDTV consoles look AWFUL on HDTV. My brother playing PS2 on his LCD HDTV=horrid. So basically, Wii is incompatible with the TV everybody will get in the next 1-3 years. Not a very smart move.

MGS story is a total joke. I mean seriously, the dialogue is beyond a joke. The only reason people say it's good is because it's exclusive to Sony.

It's just funny that people pretend Kojima is more than a awful b-movie hack. The story is even ripped straight from shitty Kurt Russell movies of the 80's.
