The Emotiv Epoc brain controller is supposedly out now ... did you get one? {Joystiq}

Dec 23rd 2009 2:13PM They don't really read your brain or anything. It's just EMG senors that monitor your facial muscle movement. Different 'emo'tions will translate into different inputs.

OCZ made something similar years ago and according to the reviews it's really hard to get used to and pretty useless. http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?/input_devices/ocz_neural_impulse_actuator_nia_-_the_log/1

Emotiv EPOC human-computer interface supposedly on track to ship next month {Engadget}

Nov 10th 2009 11:41PM Oh yea, the device released years ago was called Neural Impulse Actuator released by OCZ.

Nov 10th 2009 11:26PM The thing is not as good as you think it is. It just monitor your muscle activity like blinking, smile, frowning, etc. (That's where the 'emo' came from). I would imagine your face would be very sore after a while from the constant contraction of your facial muscles (which are relatively weak).

I think there's been a similar device released a couple years back for games but never caught up because it's so hard to get a consistent reading from your face and it's just damn weird to use.

Nov 6th 2009 9:12PM I actually saw the guy's post on a forum. Basically he asked for donations for buying the bundle so I guess that's why the police is charging him for it.

Oct 22nd 2009 10:08PM Because this is what L4D1 could've been. Just look at TF2, it's $20 and see how much free DLC's been added to it.
