Sears and Kmart launch streaming video service this Christmas

Jun 23rd 2010 12:33PM (Engadget)
Fun fact, I'm pretty certain that's the Sears in Salem, Oregon. That place was my first "real job" back in the mid-90s just after high school. Wonder why Engadget chose that picture...

Fujitsu's motion sensing laptop interface makes no sense (video)

I'm not saying it's a good idea, but it's pretty short sighted to not see that this has benefits to people who give presentations a lot. Of course, I'd personally still prefer a small remote control that fits easily in the palm of my hand, but to say there's no use for this is not true.

Split/Second trailer: say hello, and goodbye, to Downtown

Apr 3rd 2010 6:34PM (Joystiq)
Not to mention, the last time I was in Seattle (about 25 minutes ago) there were no palm trees there. And yeah, no suspension bridges either.

Come on Mr. Fletcher, don't jump carelessly to conclusions. It's clearly a fictional downtown.

Desk Phone Dock promises to bring some landline charm to the iPhone

@NextGen

So you're saying you want a mobile handset so you can charge your cell phone but still walk around & talk on it? Wouldn't it be great if that mobile handset could even then work outside the house, or across town? And then maybe a 2nd mobile handset to tether to the first one so that you can use it while the phone & 1st mobile handset are charging. I love the irony of your comment. =)

I think what you're actually looking for is a second phone.

Nokia offering free turn-by-turn navigation on smartphones globally (updated)

@Abe Froman

Wow, so all one has to do to get a comment down ranked is state an unpopular opinion, however true it may be. I always wondered...

Sometimes, some things aren't even worth free and that's been my experience with any of Nokia's map service offerings. Their own turn-by-turn services are even worse than the Route 66 guidance, which at times is at best, infuriating.

Verizon to double ETFs on FiOS TV contracts

@John Thacker

That's great, I didn't know it was so affordable now. Last time I was comparing (about 9 months ago) my friends who were looking into FIOS were shocked when I told them what I was paying for my 100/10. I'm glad to be wrong though. =)

I really don't look forward to the day when I move back to the U.S., as I'm completely spoiled by European style (Scandinavian style?) internet service/prices.

I've had fiber in my home for over 2 years now. My monthly cost? About 55 USD. I really hope the utility companies in the U.S. get their act together.

Assassin's Creed II DLC was cut from main game due to time constraints

Dec 23rd 2009 2:57AM (Joystiq)
I think the most ironic thing is, if Patrice hadn't come out & been completely up front about the thing, then the same people that are pissed off now would have been screaming & yelling about a conspiracy, and how they intentionally left the content out of the game so that they could come back & "milk us for more money" later.

Personally, I applaud Ubisoft for coming out & being totally candid about the DLC and the reasoning behind it. I don't mind paying for content that was cut due to time restrictions. What's it gonna cost, maybe the price of a lunch at McDonalds? I'll certainly enjoy the DLC a hell of a lot longer than I will the meal.

Honda EV-N Concept tucks U3-X personal transporter inside door

Sep 30th 2009 6:19AM (Engadget)
I would say it looks way more like an old Fiat Panda than a 500, but anyway, it probably appeals aesthetically more to the European crowd than the American crowd. Being an American living in Europe, I like it.
