Japanese hardware sales, February 6 - 12: Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout edition
Feb 20th 2012 10:42AM (Joystiq)And still has the best opening cutscene than any Dragon Ball game, IMHO.
PlayStation Vita torn down, deemed easily repairable due to modular design
Feb 17th 2012 10:35AM (Joystiq)Jak and Daxter Collection trailer gets deep, super nostalgic
Feb 15th 2012 9:16PM (Joystiq)In terms of value, this collection takes the cake, since there are 3 games, and each one of them are awesome.
And if you plan on getting RE4, try to get the Gamecube/PS2/Wii version. I hear the HD re-release was poor.
Do Japanese RPGs need good stories?
Feb 15th 2012 5:04PM (Joystiq)That's not really true. The main difference between J and W RPGs stories are their narratives. JRPGs are character driven. WRPGs aim more towards making the player itself as the hero.
So both have different priorities, with from different methods and (most importantly) aimed at different publics.

Don't call it a remake: Final Fantasy X is a 'remaster,' to be clear
Feb 6th 2012 10:52AM (Joystiq)7, 8 and 9 have already been re-released on PSN. (at least in Japan, as far as I know)
Prepare yourself for Sonic Boom 2012 at SDCC

Prepare yourself for Sonic Boom 2012 at SDCC
Feb 5th 2012 10:13AM (Joystiq)I know, right? I mean, it's not like the games are getting any better... oh wait
Egoraptor's Sequelitis analyses Super Castlevania IV
Jan 30th 2012 6:51AM (Joystiq)Like I said before, this sense of choice is false. The level design was based around the items, but the whip is so overpowered you never really need them.
It's like going agaisnt a zombie horde using an AK47 with infinite ammo and a knife. Sure, you can use the knife if you feel like it, but why bother when you have something much more effective.
He's not being whiny. He said he thinks the game is good.
The moral of the story is: SC4 spent too much time trying to be like the original CV that it missed the opportunity to truly shine on it's own.
Egoraptor's Sequelitis analyses Super Castlevania IV
Jan 29th 2012 12:49PM (Joystiq)That's part of the point. Why be given the choice between items and whip when clearly the whip is only ever needed at any given time.
The items are absolutely pointless on a gameplay standpoint. Like he said: the items are only for the sake of consistency.
Also, the level design was mainly designed around the items, so that alone pretty much nullifies your sense of 'choice'.
