Modern Warfare 3 maintains top of UK charts for third week

Nintendo lost the core years ago.... casual gamers probably don't even know what Zelda is.

Nintendo looking to develop 'new genres' again

What happened to so many of Nintendo's big franchises? Where is a new Starfox? On Wii I had assumed it would be a total no brainer when you consider the new controls available... F-Zero anyone? A new IP wouldn't go a miss either.

No wonder they nearly lost $1 billion dollars... they have sacrificed all their core gamers for the 10 second attention span of the casual gamer. Nintendo COULD and SHOULD have been keeping us all happy. With all the extra income from the casual market they should have been pumping it into new core gamer development teams. They have only released a small number of core games like Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart, and Mario Kart is getting more convoluted and dumb with every release (note Nintendo it's Mario 'Kart' not 'Mario Bike' or 'Mario Kart with wings').

It didn't have to be this way, Nintendo should have been hardware leaders for the next gen, they already have the confidence back of the third parties who would have thrown their big guns at the machine, but the unfortunate fact remains that yet again Nintendo's home console will receive watered down versions of superior products from Sony and Microsoft's new hardware. It could finish Nintendo off with the handheld market under so much pressure from the iPhone and Android gaming.

I don't know why Nintendo ignore what is so obvious to everyone else, get their hands from under their bums, and start giving us what we want.

It really is that simple.

Wii U won't have DVD or Blu-ray playback, will include social media functionality

@Jason B

I think it's very possible they paid the company that made the failed HD-DVD format (Toshiba?) to make it for them, they tech was aleady there and I think it's a good 25GB in capacity. (Probably a whole bunch of blank HD-DVD's in a warehouse somewhere going on the cheap!)

Platinum's Kamiya wants to make a new Star Fox at gunpoint

And how do you change your on screen name??

Platinum's Kamiya wants to make a new Star Fox at gunpoint

Why can't Nintendo just make their own games any more? As much as Platinum games have an excellent game under their belt, look how Namco destroyed the Gamecube Starfox (Starfox Armada)... The only games that were really excellent on rails shooters were the SNES and N64 versions.

Surely it could affect gameplay .... perhaps in interactions with other AI controlled characters they could interpret your body language... and accuse you of lying for example (eyes to the left whilst making a statement) or perhaps you could check a girl out in a game like Fable and raise your eyebrow.... and get a reaction!

That would be great....

I saw both SNES and Genesis versions back in the day.... there can be no argument that EWJ on the SNES had better graphics and sound, becuase the hardware was superior. Same goes for the Lion King incidentally as that randomly came up during the thread.....

Sony attacks BBC Watchdog's PS3 hardware failure report

I don't have a PS3...... and I'm not a Sony fan.... but this is a truly terrible programme... it used to be a good programme once... and it was live not recorded.

I'm upset on two levels! One, that as a British tax payer this is the best we can do, and that two, it is VERY clear that is whole thing was set up by the BBC to level the playing field having ripped into Microsoft.

It stinks... bad.

Was I the only one to notice the Star Wars blaster sound effect in there...?

Apart from that, it was really an excellent trailer for a game... but perhaps an indication that a film wasn't actually such a bad idea.
