Is there any particular reason Joystiq chose to use the single ugliest set of screenshots ever released for this game to advertise its apparent graphical prowess?
I'm not sure what the fuss is here, these requirements are in line with those for Crysis. They're high to be sure, but not ridiculously so. The minimum requirements are those of a high-end gaming PC... built back in 2004.
"Ummm... but it's NOT pre-rendered. It just looks really friggin' realistic!"
Of course the textures are pre-rendered, as they are in almost all modern games.
.kkrieger is an example of a first-person shooter that uses procedurally generated textures. The entire game is less than 100k in size, but requires a reasonably modern system to run. Have at it: http://www.theprodukkt.com/kkrieger
Actually it's Microsoft's royalty fees that are the issue, not Xbox 360. Unless anyone here truly believes that being required to shift one's ass off the couch every eight hours or so seriously compromises their gameplay experience, that is.
