You could be eating this Xbox 360 controller [update 1]

Ol' Krazy Ken said "We're on track."
And Kaz chipped in "Yes, that's a fact!
Don't listen to Bill.
With our brand name, still
The odds in our favor are stacked!"

More Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) is always a good thing. TAKE THAT!

Major next-gen console news coming tonight [update 1]

Sep 7th 2006 8:27PM (Joystiq)
"Now that we're just 4 hours away, I'll tell you this: It has to do with the Wii. More than that, I really can't say."

I'm predicting an Apple-style rollout. They announce tonight that next week's press conferences aren't launch announcements, but launch parties!

Gamer culture: Can I get an adaptor, please?

Sep 4th 2006 4:02PM (Joystiq)
I've got an XBox, X360, PS2, and Gamecube hooked up to my 27" CRT SDTV via S-Video through a switch. The rest of my consoles (Genesis 1, Genesis 2, 2x NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, PSone, Atari 2600, Atari 2600 Jr.) are all in a closet about 3 feet away.

I'm looking at one of those 7-way JoyTech switches for when Wii comes out; I'll probably add the Wii and DC to my current setup.

Japanese Wii event confirmed: September 14

Sep 1st 2006 4:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I can just imagine Reggie getting up on stage in NYC and making a launch announcement a la Steve Jobs: "This is a great console; best system we've ever made. And they're shipping... today."

Latest PSP firmware hack says "hello world"

Aug 28th 2006 1:53PM (Joystiq)
This sort of thing shows just how differently Sony and Microsoft are handling their user "communities". Sony, with the PSP, is taking an approach of "They've got homebrew working again, time for a firmware update!" Microsoft, on the other hand, is basically saying "We will provide you the tools (XNA) to create homebrew for the Xbox 360 and share it with people."

Maybe this will change with the PS3's much-touted onboard Linux, but somehow I doubt it.

Anime homage to Phoenix Wright

May 30th 2006 8:25PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I've been following Haruhi diligently since episode 2. Excellent series, highly recommended.

I didn't catch the Phoenix Wright references, though, as I've yet to play the game. But after some friends pointed them out to me, I'm seriously considering picking it up next time I'm at GameStop.

Silly Sunday Survey: Intel Macs, buy now or wait?

Jan 29th 2006 2:01PM (TUAW.com)
I'm not getting a first rev Intel Mac, mostly due to lack of money (Xbox 360 and repairs to my current notebook machine). I'll probably be in the market for a new laptop around this time next year; Apple should be on the second or third round of the MacBook Pros by then.

Joystiq poll: Next-gen combo platters

Jan 17th 2006 9:29PM (Joystiq)
Already have an X360. Will most likely pick up a Rev at launch. PS3 hasn't impressed me yet, so at this point, I'm willing to wait for a price drop or two before I buy one of those.
