Meizu's MiniOne M8 GUI exposed: shame on you J. Wong
Sep 21st 2007 6:49AM (Engadget)Yeah, great, gun powder.
China lost its innovative power during the 17th/18th century.
Of course China does have a great history and several important inventions have been made in China, but since China started struggling to find itself (the 19th century and the Western powers, the Republic of China in the beginning of the 20th, the Japanese in WWII, Mao in 1949 and the transformation under Deng Xiaping since 1978) nothing of importance has come from China.
Living in the past is nice, but I prefer living today and seeing the recent developments.
Meizu's MiniOne M8 GUI exposed: shame on you J. Wong
Sep 21st 2007 6:05AM (Engadget)Of course it is clear that products will inspire other products, but just a plain rip-off is something else. One company (in this case Apple) invests in the development and others just rip it off. When Meizu announces a price, their development costs will have been much lower than those that Apple had. Apple needs higher margins to cover these costs, Meizu doesn't.
And this is the same with all products copied in China.
In the past the same was said about Japan, but if you look at it carefully, Japan developed a lot of evolutionary (not so much revolutionary) new products, China doesn't do that, China's developers really rip off everything they can, including whole factories. Have you seen one original idea from China????
I hope this practice will come to an end, as soon as China starts developing own ideas without relying too much on foreign ideas and investment.
