Nintendo's 'goal' for Mario Kart 3D: eight-player online

Jun 10th 2011 9:47PM (Joystiq)
@Mr Khan was there any doubt that it wasn't as powerful as Wii, though? It's less powerful than your average smartphone. Even the first iPhone beats it out by about twice the horsepower.

I think I'm playing it wrong. Is all you do run to one screen, shoot lasers while running and healing self, then advance to the next screen and repeat? Any other spells take too long to queue up so by then you're either dead or swamped with enemies and will soon be dead.

Dead or Alive Dimensions lets players double framerate by turning 3D effect off

Jan 13th 2011 6:12PM (Joystiq)
@bm111 no, I think he's right. The game isn't rendering two screens, it's rendering two viewpoints which are displayed on the screen at the same time. It needs extra power to calculate the shaders and geometry (but can reuse a lot from the 1st viewpoint), so it probably can't maintain a steady 60fps. I bet they can eke out 45fps in 3D mode but due to screen tearing they lock it to the nearest multiple of 60.

Nintendo planning more consistent 3DS release schedule, eyeing developing countries

Jan 10th 2011 8:24PM (Joystiq)
If they're targeting developing countries, that says a lot about the price of the 3DS. I'm now optimistic that they won't release it at $300 for us in North America.

ESRB: Yes, 'Rayman 3D' is a 3DS game

@scy1192 except now that I think about it they did port the first one to DSi after it was already ported to the GBA
