Apple Store coming to Naperville, Illinois

Aug 4th 2009 7:05PM (TUAW.com)
It actually takes less than 20 minutes to drive from Oakbrook to Naperville. Drive down Roosevelt Road and take a left - Naperville!

Apple Store coming to Naperville, Illinois

Honestly, this is about an ignorant comment as you can find.

Naperville is a gorgeous place overflowing with parking and high-end shops. An Apple store makes perfect sense.

I agree that it is a bit close to Oakbrook, but more Apple stores to choose from is a good thing.

Firefox 3 Download Day a huge success

Jul 3rd 2008 5:50PM (TUAW.com)
About as good as FireFox 2, which means it is still the weakest of browsers in OS X.

Firebug is the only tool that makes it a "must-have" application.

Adobe Reader 9 released

I'm with the gnarling masses: I create atleast ten PDFs a day and I've never imagined using the horrid Adobe Acrobat Pro.

I mean, I own the thing, and it still isn't worth booting up!

iPhone developer waiting list could be six months long

Jun 30th 2008 1:04PM (TUAW.com)
Um, they aren't doing that here though. You can build any apps you want without being malicious or porn. And you can be free (as in beer).

Unlike Android you will have a built in way to make money out of the box. With a store, a nice profit margin, and a user base you will be in a great market.

With Android you will have a download page and mostly hackers having fun. How many of your non-tech friends go to the Google codebase?

One model respects the hacker, the other respects how the market actually works giving buyer and seller unique advantages.

iPhone developer waiting list could be six months long

I understand your pain Drew, but you have to keep in mind - we're all geeks. :)

Most people are still getting iPhones and adapting to the idea of an AppStore. By the time it starts getting into the mainstream (cough *christmas* cough) the masses will be waiting. It is like you were at the launch of of iTunes and had to wait six months, and were yelling "Screw this!". I'd say that is a bit shortsighted.

The truth is Apple isn't doing this to be a jerk, they're testing a very unproven model. If it fails at 4,000 users they can adjust it appropriately for everyone.

But instead of getting pissed about this here, just promote your game. I'm used to waiting years for good game software, so build some hype and I'll be dying to give you my ten bucks.

Rumor: Mac OS X 10.6 to debut at WWDC 08?

Jun 3rd 2008 11:33PM (TUAW.com)
Um, calm down. This is very weak speculation that doesn't make much sense.

Max OS X upgrades are always optional, and I will personally promise you that they'll be cool on stability on their current system before any magic on a new big cat. Sleep soundly.

QuarkXPress 8: Sleek Interface, Better Typography

May 29th 2008 5:24PM (TUAW.com)
I do. Recent clients are IBM, GE, American Express, and FedEx Kinkos, plus many other Fortune 500's. And do you know what happens if a company would suggest I use Quark on their project?

I'd walk away cold. I've done it before. The reasoning is if they are that out of touch in technology, it can only bode very badly for all other aspects of their decisions.

QuarkXPress 8: Sleek Interface, Better Typography

Anyone that uses Quark is beyond stupid at this point. They have a history of being one of the most arrogant software companies ever. Today their market share is a drop in the bucket compared to the market domination they once held because everyone experienced their awful service.

All of these new improvements have been in InDesign for years, and better integrated with the whole creative suite. The tide has changed so most design shops will only recognize InDesign files instead of the bloated Quark files.

There isn't a single reason why anyone should purchase this software...

Blogo 1.1 emerges from Brainjuice

May 21st 2008 2:07PM (TUAW.com)
As a user of Blogo, I'm very happy to see this release.

The honest fact is that as it has been up until this point, Blogo simply doesn't work. It is buggier then hell, with less features, and spotty uploading compared to the native Wordpress setup. I quickly learned it was much worse to use Blogo then a simple web browser.

Here is hoping this makes me not regret my purchase. It is a beautiful piece of software visually, now I hope to see it act that way...
