You still won't have to spend another penny, it would be optional content for those who want to continue getting content and value out of their initial purchase. Not to mention free dlc and patches will now be possible. As long as Nintendo doesn't start doing on-cartridge dlc and bullcrap online pass gouging like EA, this is a good thing.
And so all of the anti-popular opinion morons come out. "Ohh this game is hated so I must say everyone is stupid to be edgy and go against popular opinion!!!". The game was objectively, and severely, flawed. To give the game anything above a subpar score would undermine Joystiq's integrity. Enjoy the game all you want, but realize you're enjoying a piece of s***. But that's okay, because some people are into s***.
Just because a game has a strikingly similar OPENING STORYLINE premise, does not mean the gameplay will be at all the same. Fallout 3 had the obnoxious VATS system, crappy shooting mechanics, annoying map-following gameplay, redundant (boring) enemies, and a huge world with nothing to do in. However it had a great atmosphere and premise (and dialog), so hopefully Rage can keep the atmosphere but have more interesting core gameplay (the dialog will be missed, however, Rage isn't about role playing).
Honestly I think killing is more of a gameplay mechanic most of the time. For instance, what the hell is supposed to happen when you're approaching a goomba? Should it just kind of walk off the screen? Should you start a conversation to reach a reasonable conclusion? Should you have to avoid it completely? No, you jump on it and it "dies", only to respawn later just like in FPS games.
The better argument is that games GLORIFY killing too much. However, to single games out instead of movies is the reason I defend violent games. I am against ANY form of media that depicts explicit, psychotic violence and murder. But honestly, virtually no video games are like that.
