Rumor: Natal part of new Xbox console, due Fall 2010

Jun 13th 2009 9:08PM (Joystiq)
xbox natal is just two 360's duct taped together......its fun to watch the 360 guys squirm on this one. going the nintendo route eh? after all those years of MS guys making fun of nintendo; isn't it ironic? if you can't beat em, just join em. that's what they say. and that's what MS is going to do, whether you like it or not. the fan base will be split for sure.

Miyamoto flattered, not worried by Sony, Microsoft motion controllers

Jun 8th 2009 8:27AM (Joystiq)
maverick, how can they do a 3 way comparison, when MS and sony aren't even ready to launch any time soon? all they have are tech demos and no games. its a bit premature to say the least. maybe in a year or 2 we can do the comparison. we don't even know right now if any 3rd party devs are even going to support these new controllers? as we all know, motion controllers are the darling of the 'casuals' say the 'hardcore'. motion controlling with 'hardcore' players and devs......that is still a work in progress trying to convert people. i still think people on here in general still prefer either the keyboard and mouse set up or the classic controller. these controllers may die from the lack of support.

Rumor: Patent hints at casual Zelda title

Jan 10th 2009 8:10PM (Joystiq)
so you're telling me that all the retards here that are criticizing this concept have never went online and checked a walkthrough because they've tried everything they possibly could but still got stuck? i find that hard to believe. if you ever done that, you are being hippocritical. this patent streamlines the whole process and brings the in game hints online, and ingame. now that is what i call advancement, and evolution of video games. i consider myself an good gamer, but there have definitely been games which i got stuck in and never completed. for example, in trauma center new blood, my friend and i couldn't install that damned pace maker, even though we tried a 100 times. i wish it had this feature.

Rumor: Patent hints at casual Zelda title

Look, its optional, which means that if you consider yourself a long time gamer with alot of skill, you can still play the same way without any help. if you're new to the game, you will be able to experience the whole game from beginning to end. i don't really see the negativity to this, only advantages.

EA Sports' Moore tackling the 'challenge' of Wii Sports

Nov 24th 2008 8:05PM (Joystiq)
'"The challenge we face is that that consumer gets 'Wii Sports' right out of the box and that's a sports experience that's good enough for a lot of people," EA Sports president Peter Moore told MTV Multiplayer. "That is a challenge for us at times."'

funny how they still haven't even come close to making a sports game as good as wii sports for the wii. you know what EA? study wii sports, see how it should be done by the masters, put more effort and time into games for the wii, and then release your game. the nba lives that you guys made on wii are among the worst games ever made of all time. you people should be ashamed. try to get down the wii controls, as hard as it is...please. stop releasing crap on the wii and put more effort in there. that's my advice to you guys. put your A team on this project instead of your D team.

The Conduit finds publisher, rumored to be Sega

Oct 29th 2008 8:04AM (Joystiq)
the only reason people care about shooters on the wii is because of the controls. the controls are exclusive on wii. and many, including myself believe the wii controls are the only way to play shooters. thus far, the fps' on wii have been subpar save for a few. the number of shooters can be counted on one hand, and the number of good ones on a couple of fingers on wii. they are red steel (not as bad as people make it out to be), metroid prime 3, medal of honor. so the knock on wii games is that the graphics look like ps1 games, which in some case of 3rd parties is true most likely due to laziness. but to have a game like the conduit that truly does shows what the wii is capable of graphic wise, but also be able to use the innovative control scheme of wii is the best of both worlds. that is why this game is so anticipated. sorry, but double analog sticks are on the way out, and no amount of graphics can help it. shooters were never meant to be played that way. so in a sense that control scheme really is last gen. only way to play fps', mouse and keyboard, or wiimote and nunchuk. period.

Resident Evil 5 producer: Wii can't handle RE5's title screen

Oct 26th 2008 10:03AM (Joystiq)
people here are just ridiculous. yeah, we know we know. wii is underpowered graphically compared to the other consoles. we've known this even before the system was released 2 years ago. yet, we are still talking about it, trying ever opportunity to rub it in. but that is only half the story. people just ignore the other stuff, or avoid talking about it. technology wise, the wii user interface is light years beyond the 360 and ps3. the combination of techs in the wiimote is the best thing to arrive on the video game scene since sliced bread whether you want to admit it or not. and yes, online capaability is also a big advancement. graphics to me, not so much. whether you want to believe it or not, last gen graphics are still sufficient, and always have been, as evidenced by where the money is being spend on video games. listen, individual-handed control, motion, IR pointing, audio feedback with remote speaker. these are all great techs, and in combination, wii's user interface is way more advanced. so in reality, tech advancement between consoles is really just a wash. listen, consumers aren't idiots, as much as self-proclaimed hardcore elitists think most people are. they know where to put their money. and don't you think the reason wii is successful has a lot to do with core gamers buying the system and games? use common sense, its not the grannies and babies buying the wii that make it the most successful console. they are factor but not as much as exaggerated by folk here. it has more to do with the core gamer subset. you guys are buying it. so quit crying and complaining. the wii is the best selling console this gen, like the ps2 before it. accept it. a few exclusive games here and there it misses isn't going to take it down. see MGS4, and GTA4. it won't matter, wii music is still going to sell the boatload whether you understand what it brings to gaming or not.

DS upgrade has camera, music player, says Nikkei Net

Sep 28th 2008 9:20PM (Joystiq)
guys, adding to the comment trend, its very simple. The DS is the highest selling portable at this point in time. now there are people out there who love the psp and hate the DS, and there are many differences to both in approaches, but in any generation, whether 4 bit, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 bit and etc, the highest selling machine is the machine most people want. is it the best machine in its generation? most people would say yes. now you may be a select group that proclaims themselves a gaming expert, and go outside the norm and proclaim other things. but the majority of people have voted with their wallets. you can bash all you want, but the DS is most successful. just like ps2 was in its era, even though being the most inferior graphic wise. now to say the DS is technologically inferior is i think a mistake. each portable has its strengths and weaknesses, its unique hardware characteristics. obviously touch screen in gaming is a big deal. tell me when anyone has implemented touch screen into video games successfully prior to nintendo. of course you can't. what people on this trend failed to mention is that nintendo had the balls to think outside the box, and they did, and it paid off for them. and they did it all over again on the wii. now whether you like it or not, whether its the iphone, or psp2, nintendo has set a new standard in video games, and all these devices thereafter will have touch screen to them. you will learn to like them whether you do or don't. to not acknowledge nintendo's contribution to the games industry is absolute hipocrisy. in this way, nintendo's user interface is light years beyond anything on psp. psp's user interface is not anymore advanced than the gba. so from a technological standpoint, technology wise the systems are a wash. the same goes for wii. people try to say motion sensing is not advanced tech, but i guarantee that xbox 100 and ps4 will have it. its a trendsetter. besides that's simplification at its best. the IR pointer, controller speaker are also trendsetters that competitors will copy and become standard on game machines.

Iwata: Nintendo may slow down the new peripheral parade

Aug 4th 2008 9:08PM (Joystiq)
i don't know what people are complaining about. nintendo's wii is not a tradition gaming console. its an old school arcade console. i thought people would have figured that out by now. these peripherals are expected if you want the best arcade at your house. seeing as public arcades are becoming extinct, this is a very good thing if you're fan of old school arcades. on the other hand if you grew up playing PC games, and playstation generation games, the wii isn't really for you to begin with.

Wii Warm Up: Nintendo's next big Wii game

May 6th 2008 4:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
you know everyone here is talking about a wii zelda. we already had a wii zelda last year. yes, i know it started as a game cube game. i'm with many people here who say that we should definitely get some new IP's. however if they do a new zelda for wii, i just hope they make something drastically different than twilight princess. i hope they improve the sword fighting. i hated it in twilight princess where it couldn't detect if you were swinging left or right. then there was the problem where you had to press a couple of buttons then swing, which was totally unintuitive. i hope they clean that mess up. how about a zelda 4 swords for wii? they can make a semi 3D zelda. the wii is such a multiplayer system that they should give players the option to multiplayer locally and on wifi. i think that would be great.
