Interview: BioWare's Greg Zeschuk on Dragon Age, DLC, and more

Nov 27th 2009 11:58AM (Joystiq)
I'm just having a bit of a hard time understanding how people can complain about lack of content in Dragon Age. Seems incredibly content rich to me. Adding in the additional DLC content on the side seems perfectly acceptable to me. There has to be a point where you draw a line and say, "This is the main game," and, "This is DLC." Should there be a certain window between the release date and the DLC so that people don't complain about having to pay for it? I just have a hard time understanding these complaints.

GameFly begins selling new games

I cancelled my Gamefly account a loooong time ago because of that. I'm surprised it's still an issue.

Guitar Hero: The Beatles sends us into a terrifying alternate universe

Sep 7th 2009 2:09PM (Joystiq)
@Jrod - Your argument has a certain amount of merit, but c'mon, face facts. To this day, The Beatles have FAR more fans than Metallica. You may or may not approve of that popularity, but there's no point in denying it. Using that fact, it's pretty easy to move forward with the thought and assume that there are FAR more people willing to support TB:RB than GH:M.

Also, you could certainly say "It's Iron Maiden" in support of some GH:Iron Maiden game, but that would have to be done with the understand that there are a very large number of people vehemently opposed to Iron Maiden, and that backlash would certainly hit the game as well.

This game, as pointed out, has had harmonies added to the vocals, dreamscapes added to songs that otherwise would have happened in a studio, and a drum trainer updated to fit Ringo's favorite fills and beats. Also, the 45 songs are by one group rather than being spread out 50/50, or worse, with other bands. Is it similar to the Guitar Hero band games? Sure, but most do agree with me in saying that Harmonix raised the bar when it comes to band game expansions. Happens all the time in video games, and it's up to Activision now to respond to it and raise that bar again.

EA Sports Active gets More Workouts Nov. 17

Aug 20th 2009 2:17PM (Joystiq)
Just for the record, I'm a very big fan of EA Sports Active. While I've always had a hard time staying dedicated to an organized exercise routine, I don't have that problem with this.. game? Exercise routine? What is it exactly? Anyway, in this particular case more is good in my book.

Aragorn's Quest bumped to most popular release quarter of all time

Aug 12th 2009 5:43PM (Joystiq)
Don't forget that as soon as all of these bomb in Spring of 2010 the game industry will decided that it was because of Spring 2010 and not because there were 5,000 games released at the same time and go back to releasing everything between November and January.

Capcom bringing Mega Man Battle Network remake to DS

I actually really liked Network Transmission for the Gamecube. Shame that's not what's being remade for the DS. That might actually be interesting news.

Last.fm on XBL: free to gold subscribers, 3 hours per month for others

Jul 1st 2009 12:12PM (Joystiq)
That's really a terrible example. If Microsoft somehow managed to add advertisements to your MP3s that you already owned and made you pay to listen to them, that would be invasive. If last.fm wants to reserve the option to charge you $3 a month for advertisement free access to music that you haven't otherwise paid for, that's called business. Also, it's optional. As in, don't use it if you don't like it.

Thanks for the permission, but I stopped throwing my money away a long time ago. Far too nineties for me. These days, I just bulldoze it into a giant pit that I had dug into my backyard. I find it far more refreshing this way instead of just tossing it in the garbage.
