Got this as soon as I saw it was out. Finished the tutorial and it was hilarious. The controls will take a bit of getting used to but so far I love it.

If you are in it for the story, NWN is the closest in gameplay.
I'd say either start at the beginning with Baldur's Gate or, if it is a bit to out of date, jump right into BG2.

If you just love hacking things to bits in a DnD setting though, get the Icewind Dale games.
