What if I want to take my saves somewhere?

Nov 13th 2006 3:59PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Thanks for your replies about the monitor. I looked it up on Dell's site after impulsively posting my question, and found the monitors with component inputs. Not bad... but if I'm going to buy another display, at that price it might as well be a television.

Dom, can you recommend a converter? There are a number of component to VGA (or even better, component to DVI, which would let me use my Apple Cinema Display) adapters, but it's hard to judge the reliability of the brands, and some of them are quite expensive (like this http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/40-886.html ... again, might as well buy a television for that price!)

Thanks again.

Guys, I asked this in reference to another post, but I'd really like to know -- how did you get the Wii to display on a Dell monitor? I've been trying to work out such a solution for a while, so I don't have to buy a television.

Does that monitor have composite/component inputs, or are you converting the signal somehow?

Hope you can answer! Thank you very much.

Downloadable Zelda content makes fans riot [update 1]

Nov 7th 2006 12:00PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
@Ryan

Yes, most of the subsequent questions are about Zelda. Looking back on the whole thing, it's easy to assume every question is about Zelda. But pretend you're the interviewee. It's just the SECOND question -- why wouldn't you assume this was a question about a wholly different topic?

Also, the interviewer didn't ask "will Zelda have downloadable content?" It was just, what downloadable stuff are you looking forward to? If George wanted to comment on Zelda specifically, he would have said, "actually, you'll start to see this feature on the new Zelda." But his answer was vague and generic! He didn't say "new dungeons," or "new kinds of magical arrows," or whatever. He just said, new levels.

I just can't stand how from one little comment, which if read intelligently does not clearly indicate ANYTHING, everybody breaks a sweat, puts their hands together and begins to PRAY TO NINTENDO, "don't let us down!!"

Next time please take a breath before turning the latest non-event into another opportunity for fanboy hand-wringing. Read the interview and you'll see it's not clear he's even talking about Zelda when he mentions downloadable levels.

Question one is, how long is Zelda? Harrison answers. Question two is, "what kind of online features are you looking forward to in the future?" Harrison says, downloadable content and stuff.

He did not say that Zelda is going to have downloadable content!

Why are there no famous video game critics?

Damn it, you people sound like insecure geeks when you complain about other people forcing their opinions on you. Who the hell is forcing anything? If you don't see the point of good criticism, you probably have never read any. Yes, there are people and institutions who take it upon themselves to dictate good taste to the unwashed masses, but if you're as independent-thinking as you claim, they shouldn't be particularly threatening. The reason to applaud calls for more critical attention to games is that criticism helps us see media from new perspectives. Criticism can open up a film or a book or a game, allow us to frame our experiences in ways we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. Hearing another person's description of his subjective experience should not THREATEN yours; do with it as you will.
