Frictional teases a new Amnesia project, possibly set in China
Feb 10th 2012 11:33PM (Joystiq)Ha, the reason why I said that is because I still remember specific instances of NOPE NOPE NOPE moments that really had me invested in what I was doing. I really felt at times like I was Daniel in the game and shared his fear, especially when the monster busts through the door in front of you. More games should try to emotionally involve their players like that game did

Feb 10th 2012 6:54PM (Joystiq)I know, super scary games really do tend to be lame. It's almost like real life where you don't have super crazy strength and weapons out the ass.
On an unrelated note, I cannot wait for this, Amnesia was one of my favorite games I've played recently and I even got my friends to play it. The utter fear I felt at times in that game still give me fond memories

Sep 11th 2011 3:27PM (Joystiq)Having gone back though and playing most of the FF games, the exploration doesn't really compare to many comparable games. I see your point in that the hallway to hallway aspect leaves absolutely no room for exploration, but a game now a days like Mass Effect, Fallout, or Elder Scrolls has more exploration values than any of the previous FF games (granted they are done today, have a bigger budget and better equipment to make the game)

Sep 11th 2011 3:26PM (Joystiq)The "exploration" on Gran Pulse is a mere shadow of the exploration you could do in any of the other games as the only open area is the Archelyte Steppes or whatever its called. And even that is just a series of mini boss fights that you basically run around to

Sep 11th 2011 2:59PM (Joystiq)As devise as the game is, I think that there are people who really did enjoy the game (myself included). The thing is long time fans find some things divisive and there are other great RPGs that compete for people's time. Plus people love hating on FF13 anyway.
I too am excited for this game though

Sep 11th 2011 2:57PM (Joystiq)If I'm not mistaken... aren't they all pretty much linear? I mean sure they aren't all go down this corridor but it isn't like here are five objectives you must complete before going onto the next main quest item. 13 may not have an open world map, but as far as FF games go compared to many comparable RPGs today, they have all been pretty linear
