Sep 9th 2009 3:17AM (Joystiq)In case you'd forgotten, the PS3 branch of this site used to be called PS3Fanboy. I was quite happy reading that news actually. What you're saying is "Sure, the news here is bias but if you don't like it you can always go somewhere else". The problem, Womble my friend, is that so much of the US based gaming blogs are also bias, so where does one go?
And for the record, this isn't a Sony press release, nor was it sourced from a Sony press release. It's data that has come from an independant UK company that monitors and reports on sales of music, video and software via retailers' EPOS systems.
Not that you OR Joystiq seem to care for accuracy.
Chart Track: PS3 sales up 999% percent in UK
Sep 8th 2009 8:13PM (Joystiq)There is _no_ reason they HAD to leave out the rest of the article they sourced this information from. In fact they took the headline and ran with it as if reading the content was completely optional.
Joystiq _could_ have reported all the information and it would still be new content and it would still get people talking. Of course, that might put a positive spin on the PS3 and "here the US of A we don't do that kinda thing - unpatriotic you know!".
Can you honestly tell me you don't think there was any anti-Sony spin put on this article?
******From the source******
"Sales of Sony's redesigned Slim beat Xbox 360, Wii and DS Lite by 3:1"
ChartTrack has told MCV that it is not releasing specific sales numbers, but did say:
“The sales increase is very impressive, making the PS3 the top selling hardware in Week 36. The Xbox 360, Wii and DS Lite all sold around the same amount last week – PS3 Slim outsold each of them by a ratio of three-to-one.”
The sales-tracking firm added that it’s unsure how long the uplift will continue for.
“The longevity of this uplift very much depends on the time of year. The PS2 Slim was released in November, much closer to Christmas. We’ll have to wait and see how things work out for Sony this time.”
Chart Track: PS3 sales up 999% percent in UK
Sep 8th 2009 7:15PM (Joystiq)What is missing is Joystiq's ability to report the whole truth. It seems they'll do anything to put a negative spin on the PS3.
The whole truth is:
PS3 sales in the UK up >1000% (no big deal without numbers I agree)...but
360 sales in the UK up 43% after price drop...whilst
PS3 still outsold 360 in the UK by 3-to-1.
Starting to make sense now?
Chart Track: PS3 sales up 999% percent in UK
Sep 8th 2009 7:10PM (Joystiq)Sales up >1000% for the week in the UK. Sure, no big deal... but
...Xbox 360 Sales up 43% in the UK after their price drop for the week....and
...PS3 still outsold XBox 360 by 3-to-1. That IS significant.
Not to mention Japan sold >150000 in the first THREE DAYS the slim launched.... more than it even managed on launch! (88000 in two days).
