According to the (small) amount of press I've seen about DiRT 2, the devs are certainly marketing it at the "X-Games" crowd. There's an interview out there somewhere and this:

Nothing wrong with X-Games IMO, but the "EXTREEEEEEM!!!!" criticism certainly applies.

I, too, hope a proper rally sim is produced for the new generation game systems, but I do think there's room for a series like DiRT in the motorsport gaming world. I do not think, however, that it should feature Colin McRae's name. DiRT is most certainly not Colin McRae Rally!
