GameStop discontinuing DS Lite once it sells through rest of its stock

Apr 22nd 2011 6:53PM (Joystiq)
I had no idea that gamestop manufactured the DS lite. Good thing they didn't give up on the PSP GO in America.

Dave, how about some basic level of fact checking for headlines?

Remedy: Signing with MGS for Alan Wake was 'a business risk'

Mar 26th 2011 9:19AM (Joystiq)
Read between the lines. "Launching as an Xbox exclusive is why we are going to be a memory as game developers in another 9 months."

Exclusives are all about marketing, and MS wanted to have a game that would be a critical darling. The problem is that they forgot that their core demographic, the people they are really making money off of, isn't all that interested with innovation. The MS core demo wants their Madden 201X, their COD, and a Halo game that isn't Halo Wars.

I think Alan Wake is a very cool game, but it never had a chance as a 360 exclusive. Maybe if it had been a football fps staring master chief...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play ('PlayStation Phone') now has a commercial

Feb 3rd 2011 11:22AM (Joystiq)
Wow. With everything NGP is bringing to the table, is there really a place for this thing? Would you buy one? Those games look pretty weak, and I don't know if I can see a place for it in my every day without a slick game. That being said, I would like to try it, lol.

PSN Fall Sale kicks off tomorrow; DeathSpank, Peace Walker and more half price

Nov 22nd 2010 4:10PM (Joystiq)
@Chazzr If you live in the EU region, sorry in advance. Anyways, you're on your ass about the psn as far as MGS PW goes. That was the game that saw Sony move the store publish date to Tuesday. I had my copies, all five of em, downloaded and ready to rock by 4:00 pm. For a guy who has a job that is just fine. Weak trolling sister, just weak.

Square Enix members: claim your rewards now

It actually says "Cloud Strife, Cloudy Wolf" engraved in Al Bhed.

Thanks man.

Square Enix members: claim your rewards now

You can count me as one of the iPod touch owners. The first game that was eligible was Valkryie Proflie DS and I think the last was Supreme Commander 2, or Just Cause 2, which ever was released last. We should start a crazy rumor that it is a custom iPod with Cloud's signature engraved on the back or something super fanboy-ish.

Snap Judgment: Infinite Space

Mar 27th 2010 1:35AM (Joystiq)
Its always sad when something you enjoy dissapoints you. This article is a pretty sad way of saying, "I don't get this game". Infinite Space is on the Demon's Souls side of difficulty and I also admit to a fine bit of frustration with the game. However, these frustrations are part of the learning curve of the game.
If you ever wanted to play an entire game that feels like the ship to ship combat of skies of arcadia, admittedly simpler in general, this is your game.
I can dig the snap decision, but I thought you guys had some taste and a stiffer upper lip.

Ubisoft's PC DRM verification was out because 'servers were attacked'

Mar 9th 2010 1:09AM (Joystiq)
On what planet is the 360 failure rate not in the double digits? Certainly not this one. If that was true then why did you buy a second one after you had your original box replaced? Of course, that was a stab in the dark on your personal situation but I bet more than 3% of the posters on this thread have played out a similar situation.

Ubisoft's PC DRM verification was out because 'servers were attacked'

Mar 9th 2010 1:04AM (Joystiq)
The PC gaming community only has itself to blame for this entire situation. If piracy wasn't so rampant then these kind of measures wouldn't be necessary. The outage stunk of direct action, not a mistake on Ubisoft's part.
I say, bravo Ubi for taking a stand against the villanous hive that is the majority of PC gamers, but at the same time a hearty boo for wasting money on a useless venture. The only way to truly monetize a PC game at this point is to have a subscription.
The publishers should save themselves the trouble and remove one major piracy vector.

Pachter: Call of Duty to decline $250 million in 2010

Feb 9th 2010 12:16AM (Joystiq)
Couldn't agree more. So cloudy eyed Patcher says that Activision will be down 250m huh, could that be because they aren't launching Call of Duty MW2 this year? Way to go Patch, that is some top-notch analysis.
