House of the Dead: Overkill far too cheap on Amazon

Feb 17th 2010 11:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Actually, I read a recent bit @ Gamasutra (IIRC) w/ one of Headstrong's devs. When asked about HOTD:Overkill, Headstrong (not SEGA) was actually rather happy w/ sales - while it did not set the world on fire a la MW2, the game has been a steady "evergreen" title that sells more & more copies every week - and has since it debuted. The current Amazon promo will likely boost those numbers a bit more.

And for the record, I bought this AND Madworld on release day - count me as at least one Wii user that plays "serious" or "hardcore" games...and has a great time doing so.

G4 reviews gives an automatic +1 for it's Wii opinions? What Bizarro-World crack are you smoking? G4TV.com is often one of the biggest Wii haters online.

The only real service G4 pays to gamers is via giving them images of Olivia Munn to masturbate to.

Wii Guitar Hero 5 doesn't use in-game Friend Codes

ANd is it just me, or do the note highways in the pic above look more like RB versions?

Wii Guitar Hero 5 doesn't use in-game Friend Codes

@ SecretAgentHam

Audio should sound just fine. GH3 for Wii was broken w/ accidental MONO track audio as opposed to the Dolby ProLogicII it was supposed to be. But class action lawsuits work wonders in America & Activision replaced the "defective" copies (incl. mine) for free.

When mixed correctly (GHWT on, RB1 & esp RB2), DPLII audio sounds just fine thru a HT receiver. The avg listener - ie. the masses - will not be able to distinguish btwn GH/RB audio from Wii (analog 2 ch w/ DPLII processing) or PS3/360 w/ HDMI out/5.1. And if TV speakers are what you use? Who cares!

@False - check the shots over @ IGN & decide for yourself if it's still butt-ugly. Totally revamped graphics engine for GH5 on Wii. 480p? Yes. Improvement over previous GH Wii games? Yes again. When you are staring at note tracks, though, does 1080p really matter much?

Now, bring on RB3 Wii with all the up to date bells & whistles, HMX. You guys make a better music game anyway.

Wii Guitar Hero 5 doesn't use in-game Friend Codes

EA has done w/o Friend Codes on all EA Sports titles from the get go. That's because EA uses their own servers for online, not the big N's.

Your screen name is your "friend code" in Madden, Tiger Woods, etc. And said code can be used for all other EA Sports online titles. Your EA account frm say, TW10. is found by say...Madeen 10 the 1st time you enter the online mode.

However EA Sports games could do the thing GH5 is trumpeting already (Wii console code) back since Madden 08.

Rock Band Wiikly: Green Day, Mayhem tracks, many others

Still Alive IS on the Wii RB2 store. In fact, I have it on my SD card. And it was FREE.

Since when did PunchOut get deemed a failure? It's NPD numbers last month did come from a PARTIAL month, you know. And it reached the #8 spot in that shortened time.

Anecdotal evidence to the contrary - was in a local Target this weekend. Saw 5 different customers with the game + packed in nunchuck in their shopping carts (2 customers also buying Wiis at the same time). Let's see where PunchOut lies in terms of sales in the next month or 2 before we toss "failure" around as a descriptor.

Pre-order Guitar Hero: Van Halen while you wait for Activision to announce it

I hope this game only covers the DL Roth years, 'cuz as Adam Sandler once said.."anyone who tells you they like VH better w/ Sammy Hagar is a NARC!!"

Nice to see the New Releases finally happening day & date, let's hope this is just the launch of the New Releases - not a fluke.

Either way, HMX has been doing a good job overall with this. Yeah, it launched late but still smokes the "other" game's Wii Store, which was up @ launch.

To KIMP - the only tracks Wii users won't get are the main "on disc" tracks from RB1. No way for Wii users to export them over to RB2 like on 360/PS3 & not likely to get relicensed for DLC distribution (althogugh it'd be a great way for HMX to re-sell material). The 5 Wii RB1 "bouns tracks" - which were existing 360/PS3 DLC when the Wii edition came out, will be on the Store. At least 2 already have popped up, as have many from the 2 Track Pack discs.

Save for those RB1 disc tunes, all wil come to the Wii Store in time. I imagine Wii can expect the same Tuesday new stuff + selected catalog tracks until caught up for the foreseeable future.

Hendrix DLC won't come to Guitar Hero on Wii

Nov 18th 2008 1:41PM (Joystiq)
The "Wii can;t handle track packs" is BS.

Samba de Amigo currently has a 3-song DLC "track pack" for 500 Wii points.

But if a developer can't get past the tech issues (which SdA obviously HAS done), why not sell track packs as "packs" - but do it like this:

Example: Hendrix GH:WT DLC Wii

Sell the 1st of the 3 songs as a single DL for the price of the pack. Purchase of this one expensive song unlocks the availability of the other 2, which would be seen by the Wii/WFC/GH Music Store as "free" downloads.

The Hendrix Estate (who makes their decisions WITHOUT a Ouija board, BTW) gets all the $$ it expects whether you DL the other 2 tracks or not. But then, only a total moron would pay for 3 songs & only DL one of them.
