Sony and Nintendo sued for wireless tech
Feb 24th 2009 2:49PM (Joystiq)Demand for Wii dying off in Japan
Nov 30th 2008 8:39PM (Joystiq Nintendo)I think that might also be the reason behind the rumors of a new Wii/Nintendo (?) game console system in 2010.
I'm just hoping that if/when they do put out a new console that it'll keep the WiiMote and sensor controls but still be different and better enough that it'll get people (along with myself) to actually buy the new one instead of just sticking with the one they've got.
Wii Warm Up: Butt title for 2009
Nov 30th 2008 7:57PM (Joystiq Nintendo)I don't know if it's odd of me or not, but the other game I'm kinda thinking about getting is that new Mushroom Men game.
MillionHeir is a poor man's Layton
Nov 29th 2008 11:20PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Given that, I will say that I'm not really sure about their just simply 'porting it from the PC/internet to the DS rather than creating new and/or exclusive [for DS] ones. You're going to have people going "I've already played this game" or "Why should I pay $20 for it when I can get it on the internet for less".
Is the Wii 'inhospitable' for third-party publishers?
Sep 15th 2008 1:32AM (Joystiq Nintendo)I kinda agree, but it has nothing to do with advertising. Personally, I think what they REALLY mean is that either they're too lazy, short on time, too money-grubbing, or it's more trouble than it's worth to them make good and/or new stuff for the Wii.
Consider, from types of games, to gameplay, to audio and even the physical structure of the Playstation and X-Box's console and controller, they're ALmost twins (I said almost!). Okay, fraternal twins. Anyways, enough that it's fairly easy to bring their games from one sys to the other.
But, the Wii is a totally different animal. The movement system is TOTALLY different from that of the PS and X-Box. Don't remember where, but I've come across articles/interviews sprinkled around here and there where it was mentioned that in the case of carrying other game systems games over to the Wii, that a lot of the developers found, because of the movement control differences, that they had to tweak the game enormously to make it work, or one guy even said that they'd had to practically re-vamp their original game nearly from the ground up to have it show to advantage for the Wii.
Eh. Enough for now.
Nintendo sued, yet again, for Wii remote patent infringement
Aug 23rd 2008 6:26PM (Joystiq)1. Jealous of the fact that in 2 years, Nintendo's done so much better selling an IR (infra-red) interface than they did.
2. As said, the Wii has been out for 2 years...and we're on the verge of Christmas shopping season. (Even in 15 months time it'd still be shopping season again.) They want to block importation of the Wii? They could've sued them at any time these past two years but again, the choose a time when the Wii is/would be really selling and in demand from the shopping public.
Besides, the way it's reportedly phrased (and stated as 2 separate items, not one):
["a handheld three-dimensional pointing device," and another on a "navigation interface display system that graphically organizes content for display on a television"]
I suppose that all those companies out there that make anything from laser pointers used in classrooms and business meetings to remote controls for VCR/DVD machines and TV sets better watch out.
