Dude, where's my Portal?

The cake was wonderful. Me and companion cube had a great party.

Pokemon transforms DS into 'cell phone' for kids

Across games? pish screw that. Make it across anything. Be playing on you xbox and be able to recieve a phone call right there. Essentially have the devices adapt to you, rather then you adapting to the devices.

Basically you'd just have to make everything like a VoIP and then do a lot of work making it "seamless" but it'd be a major pain...and unlikely to happen "correctly" anytime soon.

Round up some old people and make them play Wii

:: packs up Wii and goes to the local old folks home ::

On a serious note, I wonder if I should make my grandma play?...I've found increasing when we have people most of them somehow end up crammed inside my room playing Wii Tennis or Bowling. Those who don't like to play still love to watch people make the weird movements.

The Wario Ware Hot Potatoe games are pretty cool except I have to explain to everyone how to play the mini-game before it shows up on screen. So the learning curve is a little nasty.

But really Wii is the new casual gaming/party system. Hopefully developers note this and make some awesome games that anyone can pick up and play. As well as some nice 1 player games like Metroid.

Gamestop wants your Twilight Princess, we hate them that much more

I refuse to preorder anything. As far as software goes, if the company can easily produce tons, and I know it wants my money. So why on earth should I make a commitment?

Everybody Votes! Nintendo secretly adds new Wii channel

Feb 14th 2007 1:32AM (Joystiq)
OK. So this is awesome. But WTF Nintendo, What does WiiConnect24 do, everytime I get on to anything online it takes forever. Now granted this channel is brand new, and Wii News does do pretty well.

But I hate all of these waiting screens. Make it seem instant. And then have the system send my vote in later in the background. Make it smooth. Make it so we can turn on the Wii and 3 seconds later be voting on something and then 5 seconds later be running from Browser on a VC game.

I know as a programmer this is tricky. But from my understanding of WiiConnect24 it is possible. And that's what you guys made it sound like WiiConnect24 would do. Make online and offline seem the same. (Well not for net browsing...you can't download the internet)

My sister's quest for a Wii

I went an hour early on launch day...and easily got one. Plan ahead, and life is easy.

Protecting adults from children online

I think we just need a dumbass free zone. Yes I've been annoyed by the shrill voice, but I've also been annoyed by the 22 year old punk. And the old geezer.

In general 95% or so of gamers I play with online are pretty cool. We just need a way to exile the other 5%. They can go play with each other. I figure when dumbasses have to play with themselves they will see how dumb they are. But either way this puts them out of my way.

Virtual Console feature hints at upgrading classics

Nov 24th 2006 12:28AM (Joystiq)
You gamers just live in your own little worlds? Very few people have heard of emulators, mostly just hardcore gamers. Obviously they have little to no reason to use VC unless they like being legal. But there are an insane amount of people with fond memories of NES, SNES, Sega, blah blah games, that would love to play them again, but getting working systems is a pain, and they haven't heard of emulators, or don't know how to use the web well enough to find them.

Point being, it's doubtful we will see online play in any old games, that's a lot of work from what I understand about video game programming. And Nintendo plans to have a strong current gen library for that.

Nintendo sends President Bush DS Lite, Brain Age for b-day

Jul 6th 2006 2:04AM (Joystiq)
I seriously like Bush, he seems like a fun guy to hang with, politics probably aren't his thing....but hey maybe Sudoku is. It's a fun game....and plus DS Lites are just plain sexy.

So Happy B-Day Mr. Bush, enjoy your DS and eat some lovely cake.
