If it brings me good free games and comes in large enough intervals while playing (15+ minutes) then I'm all for it. I've been waiting for games to go to the watch an ad, play for free method - much like TV networks and video sites have done so far to much success.
I've only seen them in Metro Center so far. They are a little creepy though, showing a bombed out Capitol Building or Washington Monument with a guy in power armor in front of it right below those buildings.
Not that that'll stop me from buying it first day - but I'd be surprised if there isn't a little discomfort about it among the non-gaming population. Like the tipster said, people are stopping and staring at it.
Wow, the Braid-hate here is strong. I suppose it has been overcovered, but it's still easily the most original XBLA game out there, so I don't mind the overcoverage. It wasn't until the third Joystiq post and a PA mention that I finally downloaded the demo and ten minutes later purchased it. Well worth the $15.
Best Buy with my reward zone card for the most part. A free occasional 10% or $5 off is always nice. Besides that the occasional used game from Gamestop if I want a cheap, old fix.
I truly do think this game would be getting an extra point or more from reviewers if it had Final Fantasy at the front of it. I only heard about this game last week, watched the GameTrailers review, and picked it up.
As of now, I've played about 10 hours, and have no idea what these reviewers are talking about. If you don't like JRPGs, don't play it, it doesn't pretend to be something else except for a few annoying parts - if you do, it's probably the best of the genre I've played in years. Half the reviews just seemed upset the game wasn't Final Fantasy or wasn't a breaking the JRPG mold. But from what I've seen so far, that's about as valid as getting angry because Bioshock is just another shooter that doesn't mix things up enough.
The story is incredible, especially the 'dreams.' The visual presentation is amazing as well. The game is difficult in parts, requiring serious strategy to get past, but no real grinding necessary. If you own a 360 and like JRPGs, get this game, if only to show that the console can support great games that aren't shooters or shooter-like.
Not sure why the vitriolic reaction to the post. There are a lot more Wii annoyances posted, but I think it's because the Wii is getting played more and has more potential - I wouldn't want to come on every day and read "didn't really play the PS3 today, no games."
I agree completely with the annoyance as well. I love the Mii system, but there are many limitations that could be taken away to make it much better.
I'm still praying that an update comes to improve the options for Mii creation. I think doubling the hair, nose and eye choices, and turning hair and skin color into a color wheel would not be too time-consuming, but would be greatly received. I've been able to nail some people when making a Mii, but others not so much.
This is why I love alternating consoles each generation in this era of backward compatability. Buying a new PS2 gave me the new games as well as a library of oldies that I had wanted to play. Now with my Wii I've got four new games that I have/want and somewhere around 10 Gamecube games I'm going to get for cheap eventually. Toss in the VC and I don't think I'll have a drought this year.
As far as most other years, I have a habit of not finishing games when new ones come along, as well as enjoying replaying most any games, so I'm normally not at a loss to find games to play.
Even if only 22% of gamers pay more than $100 a year, those gamers are the market. Considering that publishers only make a couple bucks of every 50, that means that 78% of the claimed market is giving them less than 5 dollars of profit per year. Under their definition of 'gamer' and 'ultra gamer,' appealing to casual gamers makes no economic sense.
The market is not how many people are willing to pay for games, it's where you make your money. Unless you can get non-ultra gamers to fork over more money, they remain on the outside of the market.

Wanting more worst game endings ever
Jan 7th 2007 8:17PM (Joystiq)The harder challenge is finding a list of ten good game that also have a good ending. An ending that doesn't match up with game is much more common.
