12 Days of Joyswag: PlayStation 3D Display, 3D PlayStation 3 games, Air Flow controller

A mix of pine and aquarium water. Not as unpleasant as one might think.

World of Warcraft goes free-to-play until characters hit level 20

Jul 2nd 2011 2:27AM (Joystiq)
2 hours is an exaggeration, but it is much different than it was when it came out. I played it for the first 4 months when it came out and MAYBE got to lvl 25. I played for 7 hours today and got to 13, and that includes the hour I spent accidentally using a fishing rod to beat infected stalkers.

That said, I don't think I will be joining up at lvl 20, but who knows...

Child of Eden review: A momentary masterpiece

Jun 20th 2011 1:42AM (Joystiq)
@John Z

As far as I can tell so far, other than what you mentioned (motion controls, prettier graphics, music..) The only other thing it adds is collectibles, and online stats. (I dont recall the XBLA version having stats, not that it is a feature that interests me much) Collecting artwork has always been a meh thing for me, so this feature means next to nothing to me.

All that said, I still play REZ and imagine I will replay Child of Eden many times. Sure, I wish it were an XBLA title, not so much for the price but for the ease of playing. I like that I can just load up REZ from the dash without looking for the disc. #lazy

Also, as the review mentioned, the motion controls are simply amazing. Although there were a few times that the tracking caused the reticle to switch from Octo to Tracer.

Child of Eden review: A momentary masterpiece

@Kougeru

>>Also seems like something that will get boring anyway. Short games are never worth full price unless there's some kind of replay value, I don't see any here.

REZ was rather short as well, but is a game I still find myself going back to. I would argue that this title has much replay value. Not so much in that there is more to unlock, or a multiplayer aspect, but in that it is a joy to play. Kind of like how my friends and I would play Contra for hours on end years after we first finished it.

A Sculpin, in a creek at night. Their eyes glow a pale blueish-green when in the beam of a flashlight. Seriously creepy fish to find in freshwater.

Rock Band Weekly Prologue: The Vines

I like their track, "Don't Listen to the Radio". It showed up on my Pandora station randomly about 2 years ago. I kinda dig the Garage band/Brit Invasion sound. (Yes, I know they are Australian)

Joyswag: Risk: Black Ops board game & Risk: Factions XBLA codes

Jun 22nd 2010 9:14PM (Joystiq)
Risk: Black Ops is beautiful and I promise to care for it, always.

Also, I don't mind at all that playing this game carries the risk of losing friends. :D
