The Daily Grind: Should MMOs offer respecs?

Dec 27th 2011 12:34AM (Massively)
This isn't 1996; re-specs should definitely be available in games these days. If you want to be all 'hardcore' and not re-spec, I think that should be up to you, but forcing everyone to play like you want to isn't for mainstream games these days, imo.

Neverwinter tempts your lust for glory with its first teaser trailer

Yes, because all the world needs is another medieval fantasy MMO... Cryptic doesn't have the greatest track-record with MMOs, especially when they keep releasing them when they're only half-done. Let's hope Cryptic has learned it's lesson before this hits.

MDK = Max, Doctor, and Kurt (supposedly)

The Daily Grind: Do you prefer content celerity to quality?

Oct 27th 2011 7:18PM (Massively)
The way Trion is releasing content for RIFT is almost perfect. Almost every time I get to the point where I think I've done almost everything in the game (except Hammerknell), they release some fun daily world event quests that get me interested in what they're up to, and then by the end of the even I'm always surprised how awesome their plan ended up being.

If nothing else, it sure beats waiting 4-6 months for a small content bump like WoW had. Blizz is great, but could learn a thing or two from Trion.

The Daily Grind: Will Pandaren lure you back to WoW?

The Worgen didn't, and if they can't do it, I don't know what would.

Ask Massively: Unpopular decisions edition

@Danteeeee

That was my thought exactly. I almost never opened up the one-shots because you can clearly see the picture every time it was posted right on the home page. It's one of those that I always liked to see, but unless I couldn't really make out the picture, there was literally no reason to open it. I would've been much more likely to click on it had it just been a miniscule thumb-nail, and then also much larger when fully opened.

Anyways, I honestly had no idea they were hurting for entries. The primary reason I never submitted was because I figured they got like thousands a week and didn't want to spend time getting some together to submit when I thought it'd be like 1 of 3000 and just never get picked.

Well, I guess I wish I'd known they needed entries more -- I liked the little column, and since I'm sort of a RIFT screencap junkie, I'd have been more than willing to submit.

The Perfect Ten: Excuses for ditching a dungeon run (from least to most insane)

In WoW, I had become notorious for randomly running off the edge in UBRS, aggroing all of LBRS, and wiping raids.

I've always been a chronic user of "I fell asleep at the keyboard". It's always the truth, as I swear I must have some level of narcolepsy, or maybe after 3am my body just forces me to sleep. Whichever, it's a timeless (and true) classic.

The Daily Grind: What F2P game should offer a sub?

Sep 11th 2011 1:31PM (Massively)
I like LOTRO's method, but I really hate how they really shove the money shop stuff in your face constantly. Like every other thing you click on is money-related and it detracts from the experience. "Oh, you'd like a horse? You can either do all these quests... or give us $10" Just got to the point where it takes you out of the experience.

I agree this is ridiculous, but the commentary seems overly politically jaded.

Keep in mind, most people who actually talk a lot are in the /level 50 channel, as many know each other and like to talk. The lowbies don't talk as much, or if they do, it's more just questions.

Just FYI.
