Nintendo Wii or Tickle Me Elmo?
Oct 17th 2006 12:45PM (Joystiq)Actually I like all the systems, and own most of them. I just have a thing against ignorant, baseless posts. But again, when you don't have logic on your side, just go ahead and attack the messenger.
And I never said it was "why" the traffic is down (try reading a post before you comment on it). I couldn't care less why it's down so much. I simply pointed out that Joystiq's lame and biased posts might actually be of some signifigance if the site's traffic wasn't tanking.
Nintendo Wii or Tickle Me Elmo?
Oct 17th 2006 12:27PM (Joystiq)Are you kidding me? Putting your ignorance aside for a moment, I would suggest that if you are going to call someone 'amateur', then perhaps you should check that you have spelled it correctly.
But I digress. Or, to coin an old phrase, methinks the lady doth protest too much. The title of Kevin Kelly's post could very well have been "Amateur Prognostication" considering his nonsensical analysis of Amazon customer purchase data.
I simply pointed out the sharp decline in this site's traffic over the past few months. You don't have to shoot the messenger. But I suppose that's how they do things in the Retard Rodeo, eh?
Nintendo Wii or Tickle Me Elmo?
Oct 17th 2006 11:35AM (Joystiq)Now we have this nerd Kevin Kelly equating customer purchase decisions on Amazon to mean anything more than people who are simply looking for, and buying hot holiday items.
I guess if Joystiq wasn't actually dropping like a wet turd in site rankings (down 592 spots in the past month, per Alexa.com), then I suppose it might matter.
Guess I'll be away for awhile again. At least there's still plenty of blogs out there that don't post idiotic rants on a regular basis which only serve to alienate a very large segment of their visitors.
Sunlight: Wii's biggest foe [update 1]
Oct 10th 2006 12:28PM (Joystiq)I guess about all this means is that the Eye of Sauron will not be playing the Wii.
Any serious gamer, as long as it is feasible, makes every attempt to severly limit or eliminate all light sources whenever they are playing a game.
And, if you take the time to actually read the reports, you'll see that this is something that occurs only when the IR bar is washed out in direct, and very bright sunlight. Anyone who games in such conditions doesnt know what the hell they're doing anyway.

Sep 13th 2006 11:33AM (Joystiq)I wasnt a big Kerry fan (but voted for him instead of Chimpy McCokeSpoon), but you are misrepresenting that vote. Congress voted to give Chimpy the OPTION to use military force, as a bargaining chip to force Sadaam to comply with inspectors.
And guess what, Sadaam WAS cooperating with the inspectors, the inspectors were discovering that there were no WMD's, and Bush gave the order to attack anyway.
Also, the case presented by the Bush team to Congress, in order to get them to vote to give him authorization, was filled with cherry-picked intelligence that omitted all the intel that contradicted what he was lying about.
"It is unfortunate that most people don't understand the huge problems that can be caused by a country with the resources of Iraq to have a government that hates us."
You know whats unfortunate? That Iraq never attacked a US interest, nor threatened to to so, and yet we attacked them anyway. While at the same time, the Taliban has seen a resurgance, Osama bin Hidin still, N Korea has tripled their nuclear arsenal and Iran is able to thumb their nose at us -- and its all because we have committed all of our resources where they were LEAST needed -- in Iraq.

Sep 12th 2006 12:08PM (Joystiq)The Senate just released a report that reiterates what many Clear Thinkers have known all along. Sadaam considered al Qaeda a threat, and tried to take out any members that may have infiltrated into Iraq.
Its a damn shame, especially on the anniversary of 9/11, to dishonor the 3,000 innocent Americans who died by continuing to justify an illegal war in their name.
Our current President used, and continues to use the tragedy for political gain. He tells us that we are fighting for our freedom, but whenever someone exercises that 'freedom' to question this war, or to dissent in any way, they are branded by the President and his spokepeople as 'comparable to Nazi sypathizers'.
Which is not only a damn shame, but its also very ironic considering that the Presidents grandfather, Prescott Bush, actually WAS a Nazi financier.
OF course, we should never dishonor our fallen troops by blaming this debacle on them, since they are simply fulfilling their pledge to do whatever the Commander-in-Chief asks of them. All they are doing is trying to stay alive out there.
But for anyone who still buys the fairy tale that this war is somehow connected, or is somehow a valid response to what happened on 9/11, please wake up. The facts do not support your position in any way, shape or form.

Sep 7th 2006 12:24PM (Joystiq)North American, Japanese PS3 launch limited to 500,000 units
Sep 6th 2006 11:50AM (Joystiq)It has a lot more to do with the 360 being bigger than their kitchen table, having almost nothing but FPS games, and the price of the console.
To say Japanese people have some sort of reflexive rejection of American products is ignorant. Almost their entire post-WW2 society and culture is like a spin-off of ours. Albeit a seemingly LSD-induced version, but nonetheless...
