Star Command warps to 2012, shows off 'interface update'

Dec 15th 2011 3:21AM (Joystiq)
Any idea when the awards should arrive? I'm patient, but I recently changed addresses (with a PO box in between) and I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Oh yeah, I moved from Rhode Island to Hawaii, so I'm sure my mail is spread out over the entire U.S. right now.

By the way...can't wait for this game. I'm glad to see you guys are still making progress.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 could have always-on DRM, but it's out of love [update]

@IQ Review

Well, it completely sucks for us Navy guys. Most of us play a lot of video games while deployed, but we do not have access to any kind of internet.

For example, I've been a Total War gamer since the beginning. So you could imagine how excited I was to find Empire:Total War on sale when we pulled into port in Bahrain. Since I didn't play any games in port, I didn't open the box until about a week later on the ship. Bad on me for not reading the (literally) fine print, but Empire was the first Total War game that needed a Steam account and online verification.

So, I wasn't able to play the game...which I bought legally...for 5 weeks until we pulled into port again. Then, I had to buy Wi-Fi access at a Turkish hotel (not cheap by the way) to verify the game. Then, the game automatically started to download a 1.3 GB patch...Seriously? Do you know how long that takes on a crappy hotel Wi-Fi connection that multiple people are sharing?

Any the who, guess what. That is absolutely the last DRM game that I will buy. Note I didn't say play. It's complete BS to hamper the people that pay for the game. I'd rather they go back to code wheels and manual word searches.

Lol. There were 117 comments when I looked. Cool. Of course I just messed it up though.

Yeah, but if you're one of those people you wouldn't have gotten the update.

Trip Hawkins disputes Madden lawsuit claims

Wow, that photo is not photoshopped afterall. His name really does appear 3 times on the splash screen. That makes me think he had more influence than Hawkins is letting on.

Before anyone goes crazy(er), this could be anything. It could be a rts sequel to halo wars. Face it, doing the minority report thing (with two hands no less) would be cool and could totally work for a rts.

Halo: Assault on Squad 45 makes motion-stop mayhem with Mega Bloks

Impressive, but it just didn't feel like HALO. None of the characters seemed to behave in the manner established by the game.

Eneloop batteries get C and D-sized, still not bigger than yo mama

Rayovac Hybrids have been out for at least a year and seem to have the same tech as these eneloops. The hybrids are cheaper than the Energizer rechargeables, work right out of the package, hold their charge longer, and work longer in high drain devices.

I've been steadily replacing all my batteries with these hybrids...The difference between them and the energizers is simply incredible...especially in my digital camera and my xbox360 controllers.

Anyway, they've been out for a long time...so I don't get the excitement about the eneloops. C'mon Engadget, you're supposed to be cutting edge.

Tesla starts delivering Roadsters as production ramps up, hires hotshot engineering exec

The car charges in 8 hours if you use a 220 V outlet. You know the kind that I (and many others) have in their garage to run a freezer. The kind that was a $50 option when I had my house built. I'm pretty sure that anyone that can afford a car can afford a 220 V outlet.

And it would be great for my commute! I drive only 25 miles each way to work, but that's only if you take the highway (so no bikes). If you took bike-able roads, it would be about 40 miles. 80 miles a day would be a bit much for me to bike.

I hardly ever travel more than 30 miles on a day to day basis. However, everything is like 15-30 miles away, so no walking. And did I mention there's no mass transit in the Norfolk-VA beach area?

Now if they could just get the car down to around $40k. Even a $60k sedan is a bit much.
