What's going on with the HP Slate?

Jun 17th 2010 10:28PM (Engadget)
So want a Windows 7 tablet. I want to bring my work space everywhere I go, and I'd like to keep things consistent with what I work with. This is the same reason I was bummed with the iPad running iOS instead of OSX.

Microsoft outs Windows Embedded Handheld platform, Motorola ES400 is the first to get it

Jun 17th 2010 10:19PM (Engadget)
Geezus, so much angst towards something that isnt named after a ginormous number or a a fruit! I gotta say, Nokia and Microsoft have some pretty nice quality products both hardware and software that are just so under appreciated. I've never had these troubles with their phones/devices ever. Yeah, maybe they don't have the flashiness and cool flip transitions, but they get the job done. The whole cool thing about Apple and Google was they were the anti-big corporations, but the tables have switched, and now they're the big ones in this market, and Microsoft and Nokia are the underdogs so to speak (market wise they're still pretty huge contenders if not in some occasions the one to beat). All this fanboyism plagues what is important to us gadget geeks, and that's what this hardware can do for our geeky lives we lead. I think this is some solid hardware with tried and true software that works just as well (if not better in some instances), I'm glad not a bajillion people are falling in line for it, and there's lots of haters. :)

Motorola selling Droids faster than it can make them, has up to four videophones in pipeline

Jun 10th 2010 10:25AM (Engadget)
Motorola, now that your phone is selling like hotcakes, can you make a new RAZR for us people who can't afford to attach a data plan for all the family members in our family?

Steve Jobs on TV: 'no one wants to buy a box'

Jun 1st 2010 11:44PM (Engadget)
It's pretty obvious where he's going with this, the iTV or something of that sort. Think a giant iMac with the guts of an Apple TV, it's all in one (justl ike ever Apple device), and it will do everything the boxes do, but built into to the tv, so no box. The tv will cost twice as much as everything out there because of this, it will have some unibody awesome design. And magically, everyone will buy 5 of them. Then Apple and Google are going to fight for whoever owns the commercials you see inbetween, and Google will get one company, and Apple the other. Then Steve Ballmer is going to go "roar! here's a new product that's awesome!" And we'll all go gaga over it, compare it to what Apple has, and find out it sucks because it just doesn't do all the fancy transitions that Apple's product have. I think I sumed it up. :)

WiFi-only Nook gets FCC approval?

Throw in a decent processor that can handle it's web browser decently (not smoothly just enough to make it usable) I'd throw my wallet at it.

Verizon looking at non-unlimited plans for 4G data, will use LTE for voice by 2012

May 27th 2010 1:04PM (Engadget)
These articles are amusing. Everyone comments, gets stoked for it, complains a bit about pricing, and then Sprint always comes up with the EVO, which has horrible battery life when the thing is on 4G. 4G and LTE are great, but good god, can someone up the battery tech so we can actually enjoy using these awesome new technologies? On my phone I have 3G turned off all the time, I don't really know why people need such a constantly high speed connection 24/7 when probably most of the time, or at least half of the time it's in your pocket dying from it.

LG Fathom gets real with Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on Verizon

May 24th 2010 10:29AM (Engadget)
I'd get this if I were on Verizon. I find that Windows Mobile gives me no trouble, haven't had to soft reset/hard reset, never had any problems with my Touch Pro, and still running stock rom. Probably one of the few that says Windows Mobile just works, everyone else is just too lazy. :)

Nokia's New York flagship store closes today

May 23rd 2010 8:16PM (Engadget)
This is kinda sad. I've always loved Nokia's designs, I never had a problem with Symbian, I did have a problem with accessibility. Unsubsidized phones are what spoil us Americans sadly. I'd totally chunk out 300$ for an unlocked Nokia smartphone these days, but AT&T decides for my betterment, I'd need a data plan if I did that, so I blame the carriers of NA for Nokia's demise.

@roflcopter Not really so many Apple fanboys, actually I see more Symbian bashers and Android fanboys than anything so far in the comments.

Microsoft throws a helping of vivacious onto Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 line

May 23rd 2010 11:12AM (Engadget)
Yes i know bluetrack has nothing to do with bluetooth. And yas these use 2.4 GHz wireless and not bluetooth but don't you think with the bluetrack theme that they should at least have Bluetooth models? It just sounds right to have a bluetrack mouse with Bluetooth.
