Hands on with the Wii U controller

@FunkyVerb

Not yet at least. Remember we are over a year away and small changes like that can easily be made, same as w/ the ability to play blu rays since it uses those discs.

Your right...most likely Blu Rays and Netflix.

Nintendo press conference wrapup: You, we and Wii U

@SunnyXnsanity

LOL, that is a blatant lie and you know it. Everything that has been reported thus far on the system's hardware capability has proven otherwise. As I just stated, the Battlefield 3 developer that was speaking during the Keynote specifically stated that the Wii U was running the same Frostbite engine exactly as it was on the PS3 and 360. IBMs spec sheet when interpreted by people that know what they are talking about have stated that it's as powerful as a PS3 with a little more juice under the hood.

Add to that Nintendo's first party creativity and you have yet another hundred million selling console for Nintendo. It's just sad that you cannot see past your own fanboyism to understand the reality and truth of the situation.

Um, none of this is unverified if you have been reading the reporting. The Battlefield producer during the demo specifically said that the game is currently running the same Frostbite engine as the other consoles. IBMs specification sheet also describes a console with just as much capability if not more. So get your facts straight before being a fanboy.

Hands on with the Wii U controller

@isotrex

Totilo over at Kotaku has reported from his lengthy hands on experience that the controller is incredibly light, surprising really considering all of the hardware under the hood. He said the build quality was great, typical of Nintendo...one step down from perfect. It's fairly thing as well so that's the word on that...an extremely light controller!

lol your really reaching there aren't you. Those controllers were absolutey fine as I owned both..but even if you did not like them their track record in general is far better than any other company except, for example, Apple. There is no denying the global impact these two companies have on the way people interact with the game aspect of their technology use. I mean Nintendo sold MILLIONS of Wii to people despite how "inferior" it was to other competitors on the market.

The 3DS really is something else. I cannot wait for Zelda next week!

LOL, I have no clue where your getting your prices from but expect a sub $300 console. Nintendo has done nothing to prove otherwise; they without fail always provide a practical cost to the most innovation out on the market. Not only are you getting PS3 and BETTER graphics but the controller itself and the innovation that it provides is just startling. Not to mention all of the other technology that it provides...there is simply nothing on the market right now that can compete with what Nintendo has going to for them, not even the PSVita which is nothing more than a hardware update to the original crappy PSP. And that is factual truth, not fanboy crap. Some people just cannot stand reality.

@SonicGA

Um, Battlefield 3 is ON the Wii U...if you watched the keynote they had a developer come out and present the title explaining that it ran fluid without any problems. They are also going to implement some unique WiiU-only features that will separate the Wii U title from the Xbox and PS3 versions. The graphics are also going to be EXACTLY THE SAME as the other systems since Nintendo has finally provided adequate hardware this time around. Geeze, just do some research and you'll see how many FPS are coming to this system; the next Ghost Recon is on here as well.

Sorry pal but you just had one of the dumbest responses to a comment I have ever read.

"Right, which is why the Vita has absolutely no innovative rear touch panel" ...u realize these things are gimmicks that add nothing to gameplay. When it comes down to it people are not going to use a slider to jump from platform to platform in Drakes Fortune..they are going to use the directional pad and buttons. Furthermore can you go ahead and describe anything practical that you can do with sliders? Yea, exactly...they are a gimmick and that's all.

The PSVita has two sliders that are completely useless/pointless when playing an actual game since you have buttons to do the exact same thing! It's a gimmick and its pointless and that's why Nintendo doesn't have something similar because Nintendo doesn't fox with gimmicks, they do things that they know can work well on an innovative basis.

PS3 equivalent if not BETTER graphics have been detailed in numerous reports and the specs so if you actually want to go do some research to educate yourself then please by all means do so. Multiple next gen games were demoed in realtime on the Wii U INCLUDING Battlefield 3 and the next Ghost Recon game(s) and they were all running extremely well without any problems says the developer themselves! Furthermore eacch WiiU title will have its own unique ways to play the game built into the controller, something other companies do not have the capacity to do. And comparing the Wii U controller to the PSVita just doesn't make any sense at all because one is a console and one is a handheld...a handheld that is EXACTLY LIKE THE PSP just with better graphics. Your claims make absolutely no sense at all, sorry pal.

"N64 controller and the Virtual Boy controller both come to mind....."

And there was nothing wrong with the innovative N64 controller and the Virtual Boy controller was actually very well done as well. Do you make any sense in your critique or do you just blab things about?

This has nothing to do with fanboyism as I don't even own a Wii. Anyone with a brain and some rational competence simply knows that Nintendo would not have taken these drastic steps in releasing an innovative and new product unless they could do it well, period. Nintendo does things better than anyone else when it comes to innovation, something your critique cannot compete with. And no, I haven't held it in my hand but my brain KNOWS that the system will be sub $300. What's even better is that its all backwards compatible with Wiimotes, etc...something Sony can't do.

I find it comical that you keep comparing this to the PSVita, lol...the successor to the PSP that adds nothing new to an already flawed product. I'm glad Sony got the price right but other than that it is more of the same.

Nintendo will make all of their innovation MAINSTREAM, something NO OTHER COMPANY HAS BEEN CAPABLE OF DOING. Your ignorant fanboy comments reek of stupidity and incompetence because you refuse to acknowledge reality because you apparently don't want to see Nintendo succeed. The WiiU is going to compete very well with our current and next gen systems because the hardware is there, we just need developer innovation to utilize it to the best of its ability, something developers are apparently salivating to do so.

Anyone who watched the keynote knows that the games are on their way. Nintendo has a great lineup of titles that will be on current gen systems but they also have their own first party titles to deal with as well. Add ot the fact that the 3DS is one of the most exciting handhelds out on the market right now and Nintendo once again is going to own the market in both handhelds and consoles because their innovation is NOT A GIMMICK...Nintendo presents something new to gamers and shows the world what fully realizing the potential of a technology can really mean.

Unlike Sony, Nintendo actually provides more than just a hardware update. Oh, and yea, the Wii U IS GOING TO BE IN 3D.

Wow, that was easy...anyone have an actual criticism worth discussing?

The Wii U has graphics comparable and BETTER than the PS3 so there is no problem with the hardware from this standpoint. Period. The end.
