Sep 8th 2008 2:29PM (Big Download)Xfire co-founder launches Raptr gaming based social platform
Sep 4th 2008 5:34PM (Big Download)This seems pretty cool, but for people who already have friends on Xfire on PC, are they really going to want to run both clients, or switch to Raptr? Xfire interacts with your games directly - it allows you to one-click-join a game and gives you in-game chat. Both of these are probably the most important features of Xfire for most users, and Raptr (obviously) doesn't do these, which for PC gamers I think are very important and useful, and not features they are going to sacrifice, so that leaves no choice but to run both at the same time if they want to use Raptr, which people may not want to do if it's a memory hog, and if they get their friends to use it, will surely cause doubling up on notifications?
So really, I can see this having the biggest impact on console gamers, and possibly the increasing amount of Mac gamers. PC gamers are more likely to stay with in Xfire in my opinion. But hey, the most played games on it currently are all PC games, so I might be wrong.
