Is Guitar Hero breakin' the law? Breakin' the law?

Apr 5th 2007 3:58PM (Joystiq)
This is completely idiotic. It would mean not only couldn't you do unlockable levels and characters, it would require a "Choose Your Level" on every game, otherwise you're being blocked by the ending because you haven't beat it yet. That's what people want, a way to skip to the end of every RPG ever made and a complete destruction of any kind of storyline. Idiots.

Major Nelson teases new Dashboard details on Xbox 360 Fancast

Personally, my favorite choice on the PS3 is when I choose to spin around in circles because the bluetooth is poorly implemented. That is living.

PlayStation 3 sales plunge 82% in UK

Apr 3rd 2007 2:40PM (Joystiq)
"This means they sold 30k in a week, IN THE UK alone, after a launch week, when all consoles sales drop. That is actually a pretty good number."

Multiply 30K by four (hint, it's 120K). That's roughly the same number Sony posted in the U.S. last month. You know, the month where they got beaten by the GBA, the PSP, the 360, the PS2, the DS, and the Wii. Saying it's fine because they are doing a dismal 21K-22K in Japan and this is higher is like saying they're setting the world on fire because they're seling faster than the Gamecube.

Really, is this what all the hype's died down to? Sony fanboys happy that they're selling the same ( a week after launch) in Europe as they are in Japan, a country with roughly 150 million less people?

Rumor: Namco Bandai hard at work on three... games? [update 1]

Mar 26th 2007 2:39PM (Joystiq)
Where are you getting PS3 exclusivity out of those scans? The box which would normally hold the console is blanked out, and Namco-Bandai haven't publicly announced anything. Again, these are Namco-Bandai, not Cellius documents, so I'm not sure where the PS3 exclusivity is coming from.

First Penny Arcade game footage exposed

Love the name, love the feel, not too impressed with the actual gameplay graphics. Who knows, though. Maybe it's fun despite the graphics.

1UP and IGN agree! Halo 3 in September

Mar 16th 2007 12:28PM (Joystiq)
There are plenty of people who think Halo is overrated. They're just washed out by the millions of people who think it's just fine. Halo 2 did enormous numbers for MS, and if Crackdown's Beta buy-up is any indication, Halo 3 is going to be a monster.

Crackdown leads game sales in February [update 1]

Mar 16th 2007 11:23AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Also note that Crackdown's 427,000 sales came in just eleven days. I think Crackdown's going to have legs. Between the DLC I'm hearing about and the likelihood of users picking it up next month for the Halo Beta, I suspect it will post big numbers again in the March NPD.

Also, maybe try to actually read the chart next time. The Wii only sold 335K, not 485K. It's the DS that's beating everyone's brains in.

And Sony. Break out the bugles and start playing taps unless there's a price cut around the corner.

February NPD data show DS, Wii on top

You might note that Crackdown did their massivley impressive numbers in just eleven days.

And the PS3 numbers? Brutal.

Microsoft's sneaky Xbox 360 "update"

Mar 6th 2007 1:34PM (Joystiq)
I find it bizarre to ding MS for slipping in a security patch, while Sony routinely refuses to tell anyone what they're patching with each update. I also have a hard time faulting MS for patchig a security hole in their OS. That's what they're supposed to do.

New Skate video: a Tony Hawk killer?

Mar 2nd 2007 2:35PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Impossible to tell from watching a video. It's all about the tactile play sensation. I know plenty of people hate the TH combo mechanism, but at its best, one trick flows into another seamlessly. I don't care about the points, or shooting fifty feet in the air on a vert ramp, but it has to flow well, or I won't be playing it. If switching from one trick to the next is difficult and cumbersome, it's dead in the water.
