Could Bioware be hot for the DS?

Aug 23rd 2006 6:20PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
If Bioware did make a handheld game, everything about their previouw work/statements would point to a PSP title:

#1: they supported Xbox more than PS2 despite PS2's marketshare. Xbox is more powerful, PSP is more powerful.

#2: Their games are 3d, and "epic". Not 128MB affairs.

#3: They've said in the past they would like to work on a PSP game:

As for other platforms, Muzyka and Zeschuk said that they were big fans of the Sony PSP and are considering developing for it and other handhelds. "We spent the entire time on the plane on the way down [to Los Angeles] playing Lumines... Can you imagine some of our RPGs on a handheld? All of a sudden, we've got these new handhelds that can actually handle it."

any questions?

Microsoft: We don't think 1080p matters either

Aug 16th 2006 5:20PM (Engadget HD)
even though i am excited for PS3 and blu-ray, i really don't care about 1080P.

I'm happy enough with HD as it is without feeling inadequate that my HDTV isn't "true HD".

i wish sony would get off the 1080p kick, and find another point to compete on.

Atari CEO: No PS3 games before 2007

RE: Exo

Right, and the "non-hardcore" people you're talking about aren't first adopters.

And they will be playing their PS2s until PS3 is more affordable.

Mr Bonnel lays out the situation, but doesn't connect the dots:

"Sony is picking up the high-end of the market, the hardcore, passionate fans. There will be a time they can reduce the price and access more people, but clearly that's a technical choice that Sony has made to be selective on the field at stage one."

What he's missing is the 100 Million pound elephant in the room known as Playstation 2.

Sony execs have said in many interviews that they made a mistake dropping PSone too early and that they don't want to just let go of their 100 Million+ install base.

PS3 is expensive, but first adopters will see the value in the package. By the time PS2 is really petering out, PS3 will be more affordable.

Metareview - Tekken: Dark Resurrection

RE: SymetriX

Unfortunately, none of Namco's fighting games have online multiplayer. On any system.

Namco seems to believe the quick pace of 1 on 1 fighting games makes it nearly impossible to provide reliable, lag-free gameplay.

What the hell is wrong with this web site?

No doubt James carefully choose "4 months" rather than "5 months", because a shitload of stuff came out in March.

But fine, in the last 4 months, according to Gamespot, PSP has 6 games rated 8.0+ and 1 9.0+.

By comparison, DS has one 9.0+ game and ZERO 8.0+.

You'd have to include DS games all the way back to NOVEMBER to equal PSP's April-July lineup.

"But that's Just one site!!!"

OK, lets look at IGN.

April - July

8.0+
PSP: 5
DS: 4

9.0+
PSP: 1
DS: 1

PSP is still head.

(waits for sales figures to prove that consumers always buy the best games)

"Greatest Hits" coming to PSP

"You say "Greatest Hits" but the only thing we hear is "discount" baby"

Joystiq is officially run by 5 year olds.

Congrats.

The sad state of video game journalism

Jul 20th 2006 1:25PM (Joystiq)
Sorry Blake Snow. You are the Fox News of gaming journalism. Joystiq in general shows signs of bias, but you rarely say anything that isn't clearly biased.
