Partial DJ Hero 2 artist list revealed at Activision event
Jun 15th 2010 11:28AM (Joystiq)Wiki: (Yeah, it's Wiki)
Electronica includes a wide range of contemporary electronic music designed for a wide range of uses, including foreground listening, some forms of dancing, and background music for other activities; however, unlike electronic dance music, it is not specifically made for dancing
A genre that can be used for ANY KIND OF LISTENING, and is for both DANCING and NOT DANCING. That is the most vague thing I've ever heard in my life, and considering a ton of Electronic music can't be danced to, I'd say this term is pretty useless.

Jun 15th 2010 11:10AM (Joystiq)I'd also love to see more DLC for these games. I completely understand why it's so expensive, but it's so expensive! c:

Jun 15th 2010 10:59AM (Joystiq)I could see them putting in NOISIA's Exodus (song) in there. It had a good rap section that was fairly clean.

Jun 15th 2010 10:53AM (Joystiq)1) There is no such thing as Electronica music. Electronic, yes.
2) There is no Techno in this game, Techno is a subgenre that is mostly complete garbage. Prodigy & Cemical Brothers are Big Beat, Deadmau5 & Daft Punk are House (Well, Daft Punk is French House if you wanna get UPPITY with me). Tiesto is Trance. Justice is Electro (For the most part), etc.
3) Contrary to popular belief (from what I can see here, it's popular anyway), DJs still play a lot of pop music. Raves and Rap Battles aren't the only things DJs do. Clubs, parties, etc. Even if they don't like it, they still play pop like LADY GAGA because they have to. It's what regular people want.
4) Another reason for pop music is that it's much easier to sample and scratch over. If you put a pop track over an Electronic one, you scratch and morph the pop while leaving the Electronic one the same.
5) Kind of goes with 4. I am a DJ, I play mostly Electro, House, Hardcore, and DubStep in my sets. This music is (for the most part) NOT GOOD FOR SCRATCHING. DJ Hero would be absolutely no fun if it were all fades, effects, and BEATMATCHING. A BEATMATCHING game, OH BOY!
Anyway, for the lighter side of this comment, I'm looking quite forward to this. I bought the first, and I'll buy this one. I'm VERY excited to hear Deadmau5. I know it's overplayed, but I love Ghosts N Stuff in either FEATURING ROB mode or not. I'd really love to see 'I Remember' on there. It's such a beautiful Deep House track.
I'm also really hyped for Prodigy and Chemical Brothers. Firestarter, Spitfire, Smack My Bitch Up, etc. Just to start for Prodigy. Chemical Brothers could bring so much to the table too. Galvanize, Block Rockin' Beats, Giant (My personal favorite), etc. Gotta love that Big Beat!
