Microsoft: Windows Phone 7 not planned to hit tablets, Courier was always a concept
Jun 2nd 2010 12:02PM (Engadget)Personally I think MS know that W7 will never take off on a tablet but they think there's enough naivety out there for some of their hardware partners to dish out enough tablets for them to make more than than they could if they created their own hardware and OS and rivalled them, again it comes down to MS not wanting to compete with their partners. Microsoft's run by accountants, you'd think they'd want to shake something up given that Apple have just overtaken them.
HTC: 'most phones' launched in 2010 will get Android 2.2
May 21st 2010 5:54AM (Engadget)Bloody 1.5, I can't even get the new Market or the free navigation.
Apple are their main competitors and they're still updating the first phone they released, I know it's a little more tricky for HTC but the fact of the matter is that their main competitors are doing it so they should be matching it best they can, especially if they want repeat customers. Announcing release dates and constantly missing them is definitely not what they should be doing.
O2's UK network hung up, just like the Parliament -- were you affected? (Updated with O2's response)

Microsoft's Courier 'digital journal': exclusive pictures and details (update: video!)
Mar 6th 2010 1:10PM (Engadget)Despite fucking loving this, there a few criticisms from me that keep it from being perfect.
1. Unlike the iPad (which Apple would love for you to walk down the street with in your bag but isn't actually going to leave the living room) I actually picture this as something that I would put in my bag and walk off with. It's a bit too small for me and it really looks like I'd have to flip it on it's side or zoom in to view parts of pages properly, which is forgiveable on my phone because it fits in my pocket but for something that goes in my bag I expect a little better. I hope they can find the time to produce different sizes because my bag isn't even a big one but it could fit more than this.
2. Lose the shiny bezel, previously it looked like something that would fit in with my books, like a journal with a screen, but now it just looks like a tablet which folds in half.
3. Shift the pen, it looks far too fragile where it is. I was hoping it would have a nice safe place inside the spine but where it is now I just anticipate breaking it.
On another note some people are anticipating a resistive touch screen to take care of the pen. While I really don't expect that because of the increased functionality of the pen, I would really really hate for it to actually have one. I hate those things.
I hope someone from MS is actually reading through the posts here and taking note. I know no one will be paid to look through them but I'm sure that at least a few staff members browse through these comments in their own time.

Microsoft to reveal HP built Courier slate tomorrow?
Jan 6th 2010 12:13PM (Engadget)Doctors and the military have been using tablets PCs for years. Why do you think all these medical database style apps keep turning up on the App Store? Maybe a whole bunch of people suddenly all though that £70 medical apps were a good idea? It's just the current tablet software market trying to push into a smaller form factor on the hope it'll take off. Secondly, go google 'military rugged tablet'.
Syabas Popbox hands-on

If I'm paying hundreds of local currency to watch videos in my living room I expect it to be decent looking, I can't even hide it away behind a bookshelf like I can the router because I need the IR. This Popbox would look great in the living room but I'd need one that was bigger with room for extra hard drives, as well as allowing me to change the OS should I decide I don't like the included one, to something like Boxee. Plus it would have to be low powered and I'd have 'Wake-on-LAN enabled so I can double it up as a NAS.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands fills in gaps before Warrior Within; new details revealed in developer interview
Dec 17th 2009 8:50PM (Joystiq)There was also the plot hole that if the Prince was supposed to die during the first game then why was he also destined to go back and create the sands in the first place?
