Pokemon struggles on Wii

Dec 27th 2006 9:13PM (Joystiq)
I agree with Artimus, it's time to take James off the Nintendo stories since he's obviously biased and it shows in his writing. Please show me one post that he's recently made which hasn't been negative towards Nintendo.

And since when did coming in at number ten on Japanese weekly console software sales list denote a failure? Check the list out for a second:

December 11 - 17, 2006
1. 123,573 - Pokémon Diamond (DS)
2. 97,409 - Pokémon Pearl (DS)
3. 92,173 - Kirby Squeak Squad (DS)
4. 88,242 - Mysterious Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (DS)
5. 77,761 - New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
6. 72,841 - Oshare Majo Love and Berry (DS)
7. 71,339 - Jump Ultimate Stars (DS)
8. 70,476 - Wild Arms 5 (PS2)
9. 69,923 - Wii Sports (Wii)
10. 67,607 - Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii)

Where are the PS3 and Xbox 360 games this week? Oh there were only three of them that were in the top fifty:

35. MotorStorm (PS3)
46. Blue Dragon (X360)
49. Ridge Racer 7 (PS3)

I could've sworn I saw a post saying that Xbox 360 was going to be huge since Blue Dragon came in at number four last week. And now it's almost dropped off the list entirely. Where's the '360 Takes a Tumble' post?

Joystiq should just report the complete weekly console software sales and let the numbers speak for themselves.

Easier than trying to get one of those $100 bare bone units through Amazon! Thanks.

Rumor: EB and GameStop to stock up for Black Friday

Nov 21st 2006 8:55PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
According to a friend who works at Best Buy, the Wii will be in next Sunday's ad (11/26). As such, the stores will be holding onto any systems to cover the minimum numbers promised in that ad. Best Buy probably won't have as many as they did for the launch, but the stores should have a decent number of units for sale Sunday morning. Happy camping!

Short-Lived Shows: Small Wonder

Nov 13th 2006 7:35PM (AOL TV)
Small Wonder may not have been great, but I always found it to be a family-friendly, "bubble gum for the brain" syndicated sitcom. If you want to talk about worst shows ever, look no farther than Surreal Life.

From Silent Hill to rules and manners

Hey James! You should pick this up to brush up on your etiquette and manners.

And you're right that software trainers like Brain Age and Cooking Mama will never make it outside of Japan.

The future of high-definition gaming

Oct 31st 2006 10:00PM (Joystiq)
While SHIPMENTS of high def displays will overtake standard def in 2008, it's more important to ask when the INSTALLED BASE of high def will overtake standard def. Most people will not buy a new television unless they have to. With hundreds of millions of standard def tvs out there, that will be a long while off (i.e. by the time the next generation of home consoles launches and the point will be moot).
