The problem is that it's not ghetto. I believe this is the problem with most people commenting. That is not ghetto, it close like British English and US English but a lot of the words are straight from the cotton farm. Black people do not speak like that anymore and the fact that most (probably white) believe that is ghetto shows just how much a stereotype is considered normal.
This is not racist, it's stereotyping. No race likes it even the race on top like White people who got offended by a game called redneck rampage back in the day or people that live in a trailer being called white trash.
The problem with stereotyping is that it becomes easy for media to portray and then they KEEP portraying it until the victims get tired of seeing it.
I've been to San Diego and no black person I met even come close to sounding like that or use those choice words.
"what's the issue ? black people beg for equality so whats wrong with showing a good representation of gedo trash. its not like it represents all black people just the stupid ones "
The problem is that black people get tired of always being protrayed by less than 1% of the population. You want to know how and why this is such an issue. You only have to be black and go outside of the united states and see how other people from other nations view you. Because America media is view around the world and blacks are usually in a negative role, stereotypes develop in people who never even met a black person off of such stereotypes.
Funny, you guys call this offensive but here in Miami there's plenty of people who talk like that. I guess everyone here is a walking stereotype. :/
Interesting, I have never heard anyone in Miami, Chicago, Detroit or anywhere outside of loony toons who talk like that. It's one thing to talk like you are speaking slang and another where the person sound like they just came back from the cotton fields. No black person I know or have heard in the last 20 years sound like that.
"I never understand people complaining over things like this.
No one pulls the bullshit race card when a white person is depicted as white trash or in any manner that's "demeaning". "
Here is the reason why you do not here anything when a white person is depicted in bad light. White people control the media. It's haha at ourselves when white people are depicted in a bad light because it's mostly taken fun. The problem when it's shone for black people is that there are so much media out there that protray blacks negative that after a while they start to get sick of seeing it.
For black people who have grown up in times where it wasn't funny. Where they were hung for so much as looking at a white man or woman, where there are cartoons that show them as slow, lazy bums who barely understand English.
Not growing up black, especially black male or having people look at you and already decided who you are before a word came out of your mouth still cause certain people to notice something like this in a game and get a little miffed.
I believe the key here is that MS makes a lot of dough off of their XBL service which entices more content providers to get in on the action which increases XBL subscriptions weather gold or Silver which then gives MS more dough.
This game will go over like candy in a store for my kids. They already like creating their avatar so getting a chance to use it has already sold this game in my household.
Secretly I am also looking to pit my avatar against my two sons and show those little punks who's the boss.
"I love the Kinect hacks, I really do. I just wish we can see the same innovation being used in actual games and making them work."
I think what people for get that proof of concept is much different from creating a game. Think how long it takes to make your average game today about 24 months. Now think about creating a game from scratch, not knowing if the mechanic works as a game or trying to build a game around a proof of concept. These things take time and resources.
On another note, there are no more hacks to Kinect. MS and their partner company have released official drivers and an SDK for Kinect so now these are just normal projects people are using Kinect with.
"Unless collegiate athletes are going to start suing their institutions for jersey ticket and memorabilia sales as well this case is gonna amount to jack squat. As much as I believe these kids deserve some cash for how much money they bring into their conferences and universities that's not the current format so no dice. "
Lets be honest, those kids are getting something better than money. You are getting a full ride to a university to get a degree in whatever you want. If you are red shirted you get 5 years. These athletes do not have to pay for anything. They get top of the line equipment including facilities that are better than any gym. They get prime time coverage and the chance to win the lottery and go pro, not only for the US pro sports but another country.
