El Shaddai bumped up a day in Europe, to September 8

Jul 29th 2011 10:24AM (Joystiq)
I liked the demo. I liked the look of the game which comes off better playing then in pictures. It's a game that will not get a lot of purchase in the US because everyone preach for something new and different but when it's time to put the money where your mouth is , they just rent or buy used..

Cave developing shooter for Windows Phone 7

Jul 29th 2011 10:20AM (Joystiq)
"@Tihn
3 reasons
1) To help build a new user base on another platform
2) Microsoft probably gives lucrid benefits right now for developers willing to make exclusives for WP7 games
3) XNA is a C# based language which makes it really easy to pick up and learn if you're aiming for a programming career and you could very easily side project something in XNA. "

Also Cave can easily port the game over to XBLA which they have had some success with their games on the platform. With MS giving some coin to the development, makes the risk much less risky.

Iwata taking 50% pay cut over 3DS performance

Jul 29th 2011 10:16AM (Joystiq)
"Personally, I think that they're dropping the price too much, too soon. $170 from $250 gives the appearance of desperation. They should just go down to $200 for awhile and see if sales pick up then. If not, then they could drop it to $170 at the end of the year. "

Desperation or not, at that price point, its an easy purchase.

Impulse Technology suing Microsoft over Kinect motion tracking

Jul 25th 2011 9:31AM (Joystiq)
After checking out the company is suing MS for, it's clear that they are hunting for money. They believe they have a vague chance of either hitting MS or developers for some cash.

Looking at how their patent describe how it performs it's 3D tracking is totally different from how Kinect does the same thing. Their device uses some type of reflective device worn by the user which all should know isn't close to what Kinect does.

If this company can successfully sue MS, then they would also be able to sue Sony and Nintendo. Developers have created sports and fitness based games on those platforms as well so there is no difference.

This suit really is a joke and I am sure these guys are hoping MS will just pay a settlement then risk going to court.

Microsoft signs skeleton-filled strategy title Skulls of the Shogun for XBLA

Jul 18th 2011 6:38PM (Joystiq)
"Sounds like they are the ONLY developer to ever have been treated well by Microshit. Lucky for them, but too bad for us who own real systems. "

I call BS on that statement and on you. Stop with the console trolling. If you like the PS3 that's find but why you need to throw crap in the forums isn't needed.

Trenched review: Let's mech love

Jun 20th 2011 10:06PM (Joystiq)
"@captplut9465 it's exclusive because this one has guns in it and microsoft said OH SHIT GUNS OUR AUDIENCE LOVES THAT! "

Interesting you should say that because the last time I checked, the PS3 had more first party shooters than the 360

Infinity Ward suit against Activision going to trial

Jun 17th 2011 6:15PM (Joystiq)
My problem is that people seem to champion Vincent Zampella and Jason West as if they are saints. Instead neither group within this story are worth champion. This is a case of greed and all sides are responsible for where they are at now.

Molyneux declares Fable: The Journey 'definitely not on rails'

Jun 13th 2011 1:49PM (Joystiq)
"secondly, if movement is just a matter of you pointing your hand at the screen and the character moves where the game makes him move, that is still called on rails. Just because you control when to move doesn't mean they took it off rails. "

Actually that is not called on rails. On rails mean you do not have control of where you go. Think of House of the Dead and other shooters like that. Panzer Dragoon, Sin and Punishment (which I might add are excellent rail shooters).

Molyneux declares Fable: The Journey 'definitely not on rails'

Jun 13th 2011 1:46PM (Joystiq)
I know that Mr. M had a problem with the first Fable and promised a lot that did not get into the game but can someone tell me where he over promised on Fable 2 and 3. Since I have played them all, I did find them enjoyable games to play. I know it's fun to jump on the bandwagon and put down Peter but can someone seriously find something that was said from Mr. M that was not in Fable 2 or 3.
