Battlefield 3 sells through 8 million of 12 million total shipped
Nov 30th 2011 11:16AM (Joystiq)Yeah, I should have BF3 this weekend. I'll probably wait for a GotY edition of MW3.
Then again, chances are, by the time that comes out, I won't be all that interested in buying it.
Battlefield 3 sells through 8 million of 12 million total shipped
Nov 30th 2011 11:14AM (Joystiq)I'm pretty sure the original commenter was just giving BF3 a pat on the back, because for games not in the Call of Duty family, 8 million sold is a great showing. Especially considering it pretty much went head to head with MW3. I hear the multiplayer is spectacular.
Sony doesn't want to drop PS4 too long after Wii U and next Xbox
Nov 25th 2011 4:34PM (Joystiq)And, even if we leave out the Wii, your theory is that Bayonetta is better on the 360 because the 360 has sold more systems than the PS3. So, developers just said, "You know what? This PS3 thing hasn't sold as many systems, so we don't have to work as hard on that version." Sorry, sir, but that isn't the case. The case is, the 360 has a much more familiar architecture that developers already knew how to work with and get the most out of, THAT is why certain games are better on the 360. All the smart-ass comments and snark in the world won't change the fact that you're simply wrong.

Nov 25th 2011 4:29PM (Joystiq)You. Are. Wrong.
If that were true, the Wii would have the most 3rd party support. Correct?
Sony doesn't want to drop PS4 too long after Wii U and next Xbox
Nov 25th 2011 4:22PM (Joystiq)"That is of course if I don't already have a PS3."
That's exactly my point. I don't believe the extra RAM and processing power will bring benefits that warrant another $400 investment if you've already got a current gen console. Can the graphics get that much better? Can the AI get that much smarter? Can the UI get that much sleeker?
The PS3 was a significant upgrade (or anything close to it) over the PS2 and Xbox. I don't see them developing a system that offers that much of an upgrade by next year.
Sony doesn't want to drop PS4 too long after Wii U and next Xbox
Nov 25th 2011 4:15PM (Joystiq)I'll let you in on a secret. The (ever so slight) difference in quality of a 3rd party title from one system to the next has everything to do with the system's architecture and nothing to do with the number of systems sold...not when you're talking about System X selling 100 million units and System Y selling 90 million.
Or, I could be wrong. Excuse my idiocy. :)

Nov 25th 2011 3:54PM (Joystiq)He didn't say he regrets buying the inferior system. He said he regrets buying the SECOND PLACE system. Meaning, he bases his consoles worth not on the gaming experience, but on the number of units it sells. That's stupid.

Nov 25th 2011 3:47PM (Joystiq)I think the percentage of the gaming population complaining about "aliasing and low texture filtering" in games like Uncharted 3 is extremely small. If either company launches a console simply to appease those folks, they've got a hard (and expensive) lesson ahead of them. I still say I can't see a console worthy of a $400+ investment launching next year.

Nov 25th 2011 3:32PM (Joystiq)More RAM and processor power for what? Uncharted 3 was extremely fun, had unbelievable graphics, and NO loading times. They would have to be offering something significantly better for me to invest in a new console at this point. Even if the PS4 launched at $400, they would have to show me $400 worth of improvements over the PS3. I can't see it happening. Not for all the cross-game chats and party systems in the world.
I think a new console would be an extremely hard sell right now.

Nov 25th 2011 3:23PM (Joystiq)This is the stupidest comment I've read in a long, long time. You feel like a fool for supporting the second place system? What is this, a horse race? Did you buy your console to play games on it, or to brag that you've got the system with the most units sold?
