Epic: Consoles must be 'bleeding edge' in next generation

Mar 12th 2012 4:00PM (Joystiq)
Before the Preference War begins I'd like to point out the importance of "bleeding edge tech. " It's needed in order for developers to make the games we love, in the way they envision them.

More power isn't just for graphics, it provided more options overall. Larger battles, better detail, more info relayed and stored.

Battlefield 3's rendering architect details his dream specs for the next generation of consoles

Reading debated posts, I remain indifferent.

Look, if the next gen consoles aren't made out of Mithril and cooled by Unicorn tears I want nothing to do with any of them!

What can Japanese RPG developers learn from Rayman: Origins?

Has it really come to this? I know we can point out the obvious in design, but its up to the developers of any region to spur on creativity with fresh ideas.

VEVO app now available on Xbox 360

"...link your Vevo account."

People have VEVO accounts? I remember Vevo as being a system that reared its head when I surfed youtube. Never thought of registering, pffft.

XBLIG Companion app available now for Windows Phone

Mar 7th 2012 1:00PM (Joystiq)
The lack of support for Android is mind boggling. From the recently annoying "instagram", any and everyone is a photog now, to the official XBL app not being available. Most androids use Flash Player, now many placed including here, post vids with unsupported formats. Get it together ...

Peter Molyneux leaves Microsoft, off on 'new independent venture'

Maybe wherever he goes, they'll be able to translate his gransiose ideas into game form. He's always thinking way outside the box which gets crushed onto a disc, with limitations set by the technology we are given.

Metareview: Mass Effect 3

@Sharptrain

Can't please everyone. I remember playing part one, thanks to Joystiq giving it a good mention. It was beaten, and throughout the clunkiness of it, I enjoyed it. Part 2, with its story progression and improvements made me appreciate it all more. (I could honestly go and watch a Mass Effect movie.)

Now with a cult following the game attracts those that never understood it to begin with. Oh wells!

I couldn't have said it better myself.
