Wayne, Trey is right on this. It's not about the money, it's about the selling itself. If you don't at least meet or BEAT projected earnings, you have failed. If your company is projected to lose 50 million dollars but you only lost 20 million, your stock will go up, and this is how XBOX division continued to endure over a decade even though it has always been run at a loss until fairly recently. The first Xbox never profited... Not even ONCE, and yet it was considered a successful program because they EXPECTED to run at a loss with the original console, and actually loss less than they expected to because of the success of the original Xbox Live and some exclusive hits the original console had (halo, mechassault, riddick, crimson skies, ninja gaiden, dead or alive, etc.)

Now if you projected to EARN 50 million in profits, and you only earn 20, your stock will go down! This is why Windows Vista was a flop. It was expected to be installed on every PC and business server running XP. It still turned a profit, but XP is still installed on more computers, so Vista = fail.

GTA 4 was a masterpiece, I don't understand people who don't dig it... Maybe it's because I'm older now? I think we should expect GTA 4: Vice City/San Fierro/whatever to go in the direction of Chinatown Wars with the drug trafficking and the return of buying properties, frenzies, etc.

Saint's Row sucks because I feel like it's violent and vulgar for vulgarity's sake. Violence is like sex, it has to turn you on before it starts doing it's thing.

This just adds to my belief that the producers of Blackhawk Down really ought to sue for royalties from Activision.

Oh man, I don't remember him dying, did that happen when he was left behind on Aiur? I haven't played the game since like 2003 heh. I actually liked Artanis, though, he had a strong personality with his En Taro Tassadar! etc. etc... I'm really sad they killed off the Adjudicator though, it makes it seem like the new game is basically going to have no Protoss characters except for Zeratul -- who's probably going to be all annoying and emo about killing the Matriarch... Ugh...

Hope we see a return of the UED at some point too.

Um... I never said she was generic in BSG, read what I said more carefully. Sci-fi channel generic -- because shortly after "hitting it big" with that show she started being featured in a couple of those horrible, horrible, lame sci-fi channel original movies. It's like that chick who played Ripley in Alien who started getting type-cast, only at least she was in non-sci-fi roles every now and then, like Kevin Kline's wife in Dave.
