Direct2Drive offering free Civ 3 with Civ 5 pre-order

Sep 14th 2010 8:01AM (Joystiq)
"one of the best versions of the game"

Weird, since I thought it was regarded generally as the worst in the series. I sure liked it, though.

Resident Evil 5 DLC is Xbox Live's Deal of the Week

Sep 8th 2010 10:15AM (Joystiq)
@Lerkero Lost in Nightmares is blatantly some of their unused stuff for what Resi 5 was originally going to be. Kind-of interesting from a historical POV, and arguably if we didn't have DLC we wouldn't even see it.

THQ wants Red Faction: Battlegrounds to be free, or at least cheap

Aug 20th 2010 3:57PM (Joystiq)
Well, Microsoft won't allow them to give it away free, so it's either going to be a pre-order bonus or a paid-for digital download, as the man says.

Final Fantasy XIII Xbox bundle $50 off on Amazon

It's such a crap port, though, nevermind the actual game's various flaws. :(

Another Android tablet spotted? Say it ain't so!

Jun 16th 2010 10:52AM (Engadget)
@Macboy15 I love it, because now I don't have to buy an Apple product and can instead get some Android tablet equivalent that does everything the iPad does at a cheaper price. I'm sure all the other hardware manufacturers are also happy for Apple to do all their R&D spending for them. Cheers, Apple! ;)

"Harsh."

Or completely justified.

CESA calculates gaming industry losses due to portable piracy

Jun 6th 2010 7:45PM (Joystiq)
$41.7 billion dollars in lost sales, huh? That's of course presuming that those who pirated the games would have bought them if they hadn't the option, right? And there's obviously nothing at all wrong with that rock-solid premise...

Review: Split/Second

May 17th 2010 5:31AM (Joystiq)
Yeah, that's true. I was sort-of talking about rubber-banding in general. I can't speak for Split/Second, as I haven't played through the single player enough to make a solid judgement. From what I have played, though, I really like the AI. It's challenging and aggressive, without being cheap.

Review: Split/Second

The issue of rubber-banding is an interesting one. If you don't have it, the race becomes a chore once you get into first place, as all the tension dissipates because you know you've already won, more or less. I'm not saying that Mario Kart-esque rubber-banding is the way forward, but I don't think the idea is bad in itself.
