Mac-savvy Obama staffers frustrated with legacy White House

Jan 23rd 2009 6:38AM (TUAW.com)
yeah and then when Apple says that they want some law changed (perhaps something about how they have executive control over the use of "pod" or "i" as a suffix or prefix in any word ever) they can say "well we did give you those ever so expensive computers......"

Hang on, I think i read some where that Obama has prevented gifts to staff now so maybe that wont work anymore.

Why is everyone picking on Apple?

@jtsync47
The funny thing is that in your effort to prove nick wrong you actually proved him right.
Yes apple removed FireWire to cut costs but they never passed those savings onto their loyal customers. In fact if you use the iPods as evidence apple only ever cut the price of their products after they've removed something. They don't even give you a wall charger anymore!
Also I've never read a statement from them where they've stated their phasing out the better FireWire for USB it's just something they've done

British ad watchdogs nix iPhone "whole internet" claim

Aug 27th 2008 4:57PM (TUAW.com)
I know this is a blog dedicated to all things Apple but i think sometimes it's best to take off the rose tinted glasses.

I challenge anyone here to read TUAW, Joystiq and Engadget on their iPhone or Touch and see how much of the content has that lil grey box that goes where the flash video should be. It's alot.

It's also worth noting that the ASA is an Industry body so it has no Government links, it's run by the advertising business with their own money to protect themselves from the Government setting up their own board that is a lot stricter or even biased to certain groups.

You can however always poo poo this and just say "zo0q, the AS$a is teh biaz3d" as they didn't make ms take down an ad that they never made that contains a statement that they've never said....

Remember folks flash doesn't come with any browser out the box, that's why it's a plug in

Check out some brief Resident Evil 5 footage

BioWare: Mass Effect 2 likely a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, PC version confirmed [updated]

Mar 14th 2008 10:06AM (Joystiq)
Doubt it, Microsoft have the publishing rights to ME1 so it doesn't matter what EA want to do, it doesn't matter that EA own Bioware now that deal/contract is still in place.

BioWare: Mass Effect 2 likely a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, PC version confirmed [updated]

Mar 14th 2008 9:47AM (Joystiq)
We all know that Bioware own the Mass Effect IP so would it not be logically that Microsoft would get a first publishing dips on the sequel/series?

As no publisher would hype a franchise that much knowing that they're seeding profits for someone else. And any first deal that was struck before Bioware was bought would still be in (mass) effect, like the LucasArts deal.

I might be wrong but it makes the most logical sense, at least to me.

The Getaway still on its way to PS3, possibly to theatres

Not to nick pick put it would be SCEE shopping around for a movie studio, as it's a European Sony in-house studio, not an American one.

Infogrames offers to buy rest of Atari stock

Mar 8th 2008 6:49AM (Joystiq)
Hang on which Atari are we talking abount here as Atari Inc is just infogrames using the Atari name. There is a company called Atari Interactive which licenes the Atari name to Atari Inc but even they are part of Infogrames.

Could some one clear this up please?

XBLA Goldeneye confirmed, also canceled

Jan 14th 2008 5:44AM (Joystiq)
I think you're confusing a publisher with a manufacturer. A manufacturer makes the console and has to licence any game made for their consoles. A publisher actually makes the disk/cartridge, provides development costs, advertising, everything but make the game. This money normally comes at a cost and that is that the publisher owns the game ip (intellectual property) and not the developer. This then means the publisher can decide to make a sequel etc with or without the original developer if they feel the need (Halo etc). Not all publishers do this but most do.

Now the only reason why Nintendo are involved with the Goldeneye port is because they published it (and thus have publishing rights to it and so they have to be 'in' on any deal to port it. Perfect Dark was published by Rare themselves (who MS now own) so they can do what ever they like with it.

What console the original game was made for has nothing to do with it, unless an exclusivity deal is signed to make it so, a developer can take their game to what ever console they like.

EA owns Mass Effect ... so, what now?

Oct 11th 2007 7:34PM (Joystiq)
Mass Effect 2 being multiformat? I reckon slim as hadn't it already been announced this would be a trillogy? Knowing that MS must of had a "first dibs" contract with BioWare for the next two games, especially if they didn't do the usual thing of taking ownership of the IP that game was about.

But it seems the MS Mergers and Aqusitions department has been sleeping over the summer as they just lost sudo 2nd party Bizarre Creations to Activison, now they've lost BioWare to EA and last week they "evolved" away from Bungie and just before that they killed FASA.

So who we left with? Rare? nice.
