Rock Band developer Harmonix to be sold by Viacom

Nov 11th 2010 11:55AM (Joystiq)
I think it would be interesting to see Sega pick up Harmonix. I don't know how likely that is but it would be interesting. I could see Harmonix's line up under SEGA they would probably give Dance Central a sequel, continue Rock Band 3 DLC and maybe have a chance to resurrect franchises for Kinect and Move such as Space Channel 5 and Samba de Amigo.

'Seasonal roll-offs' hit EA for third year in a row

Oct 28th 2010 7:06PM (Joystiq)
"Seasonal roll-offs" sound like a Walmart term lol.

Anyway EA's current management is horrible, they buy studios and open up studios just to shut them down over time. Maybe if they had better management, they wouldn't have to worry about so many failing projects and re-locations, or don't make your focus owning as many studios as possible, have a good amount of great studios and create partnerships with external developers. Also, make sure you're internal studios are not overworked or working on overpriced projects that are just gonna be canceled or not expected to sell well. I would post a whole note on how I would manage EA but that would be too much and I've already written alot lol.

Way of the Samurai 4 is exclusive to PS3

@Undying True, it would be interesting to see what could be done if this were outsourced to the west. If I had to pick a developer it would probably not be a super high budget developer because this IP isn't big enough to invest in a big studio for it. So I would go with Liquid Entertainment. I would have gone with BottleRocket if they were still in business. However, it would probably lose it's eastern charm.

@chrono From what I understand he will still be working as an external board member with them.

@Grimcicle Don't forget they also bought Arkane Studios (worked on Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah, BioShock 2). Now hopefully we can see that game "The Crossing" put back into production. Anyone else remember that game being announced?

@dblue An annual Dead Rising would kill the franchise the same way Guitar Hero has been killed. They wouldn't have enough time to work on things so it would end up being practically the same game.
