Arizona Legislation Prompts Photos of Immigrants As Superheroes

Jun 30th 2010 10:50AM (Asylum)
No reply from Asylum, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised...However they continue to add to my percieved trend:

(asylum's website)/2010/06/29/dorismar-hot-world-cup-fan-argentina-video/

"So, just who is this random vixen, Dorismar? Well, she was actually living in Miami and a presenter on Univision until her deportation to Argentina for being an illegal immigrant, reason alone to support amnesty. It doesn't help to think that she could have been rooting for America if we'd only kept her around."

Disappointment doesn't adequately describe the negativity that Asylum continues to build up, but since they obviously don't care anyway I won't bother to articulate it further...

Arizona Legislation Prompts Photos of Immigrants As Superheroes

Ugh, my fault, I didn't realize you can't post a comment with an internet link in it...Here is the first part of the comment:

OK, whether intentional or not on Asylum's part, I'm noticing a trend that disappoints me greatly.

First I noticed this crap which pokes fun at all of the legitimate reasons that a state would pass a law trying to protect itself from criminals:

2010/05/06/ron-babcock-funny-or-die-up-close-personal-arizona-assembly-speaker/

Then I noticed this garbage which helps to perpetuate the view that all Americans are racists and the controversial Arizona law is built upon these racist feelings:

2010/05/03/atis-five-ss-for-arizona-illegal-immigation-law/

And finally I saw the post above which this comment is attached to, obviously meant to cast a positive light on immigrants.

Arizona Legislation Prompts Photos of Immigrants As Superheroes

Well, I'm calling you out, Asylum. I propose two options:
1. Balance your humor to adequately represent both sides of the controversy.
or
2. Quit hiding behind your curtain of humor and make a definitive statement in support of or opposition to the controversial Arizona law and please provide the reasons for your stance.

I mean, do you hate all of America or just those of us here legally trying to defend ourselves? If you balanced your humor, readers like me may not be so turned off. If you make your stance known and support it well, perhaps you will change our perception of the controversy in a positive way, and if not at least people will know what they are supporting when they come to visit Asylum. As of now all I have is a perceived trend with which I can make an assumption, but I prefer not to assume. I would like (but it is certainly not a requirement) a more definitive answer before I decide whether or not to stop consuming media from Asylum (and Joystiq and Engadget and most other AOL supported media outlets).

Arizona Legislation Prompts Photos of Immigrants As Superheroes

Yes, yes, yes, I understand that it is "just a joke" and meant for humor purposes (admittedly I did find myself chuckling here and there) or just pointing out someone else's "art". My complaint is that all the joking and reporting seems to be very one-sided, leaning towards the negative portrayal of Arizona's law and the Americans that support it.

Where are the jokes about how illegal immigrants are good for the country because they do the jobs that a majority of Americans don't want to do (I mean, who else could we depend on to commit theft, murder and rape if a majority of Americans don't want to do it)? Where are the jokes pointing out that if we are all such a horrible racist society, why are so many people ILLEGALLY crossing the border to get here?
