The Guild renewed for third season, beginning late summer

May 5th 2009 2:24AM (Joystiq)
Oh yeah! I really dig the show and Ms. (hopefully) Day. I'm glad to hear it's up for a third season. See ya on live! Oh yeah, how about the episodes be about eleven minutes long this time! Woot!

Report: Amidst protest, Konami abandons 'Six Days in Fallujah'

Apr 27th 2009 11:20AM (Joystiq)
To everyone out there who thinks that '6 Days' would have been an accurate representation of that particular Iraqi engagement, I would beg to differ. If any of you remember a while back when there was a demonstration of the game being shown off, the character you played as had regenrative health. What the hell? Was the Master Chef part of the Iraq war? Last I heard, when a soldier gets shot, he doesn't have the option of hiding behind a chest-high-wall and letting his health regenerate, he just bleeds. I think that it's a good thing that the game got canned,(at least for now). Let the war end, (if it ever will), and let the wounds to heal before releasing a piece of FPS schlock like this. Really, if you want to play a game like this, there's always Call of Duty 4.

WRUP: Tweeting the Twitters edition

Feb 27th 2009 11:29PM (Joystiq)
I really don't know where to begin. First, I just completed an umpteenth playthrough of Mass Effect. Ever since I saw the trailer, I just had to play that bastard again! On top of that, I just cleared Brave Story for the PSP. Nothing says lovin' like old school RPG'n.

As for what I'm playing currently:

1. Final Fantasy XII. I couldn't really get into the game when I first played it. It seemed such a departure from all of the other FF's that I just couldn't accept it as being part of the series. Now that I've given the game some time to settle, I really have to say that it's turning into one of the better games in the series. I had the same issue with VIII. I didn't like it at first, but after a second playthrough, I began to appreciate the lengths that Squeenix went to in order to differentiate VIII from VII.

2. Some Street Fighter 4 from mah PS3. DAN!!! FTW!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

3. Kinda put Legend of Zelda; Twilight Princess fer mah Gamecube when I began playing Mass Effect. Now that that game's done, back to the world of Hyrule.

4. The Legend of Heroes fer mah PSP. Yeah, the translation sucks. Yeah, the graphics, though nice, clean, and shiney, are a bit outdated. I don't care. I love me some JRPG's. Stat crack is my crack.

5. Tales of Vesperia fer mah Xbox 360. Just like LOZ:TP, I put it aside when I picked Mass Effect back up. Now it's time to finish that booger off so that I can relish in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Speaking of Star Ocean, I still need to work through the PSP and PS2 titles.

Too much, man! I took too much!

WRUP: 'What do you mean Valentine's Day is tomorrow?' edition

I'm still plowing(plouing?) through Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess for the Gamecube. Damn that game rocks something fierce. I just can't get over how much Nintendo squeezed into that little disc.

Also, I'm at the final stretch of Brave Story for the PSP. I'll go on record that the graphics tear ol' Crisis Core a new one. The game doesn't have prerendered CG like FFVII:CC, but the ingame graphics are something to behold. On top of that, there is seemingly no loading time to speak of, unless it's at the very beginning of the game when you first boot it up. I'll take the flames that'll come my way and still hold true to my statement.

I just completed the main portion of Flower and I have to say that it was one of the best looking games I've played so far. I would even go so far as to say that the PS3 now has it's own version of Braid(which kicked ass, BTW). In that I mean a must have indie game that no one should be without if you happen to own the system. Short, sweet, and beautiful!

Finally, I'm in the middle of Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360. I'm trying to get through that so I can make room for Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I'm apparently one of the few that liked SO: Till the End of Time for the PS2, so I'm looking forward to the conclusion/beginning of the SO series. (I might just hold off since I haven't played SO 1 or 2, yet. Once I beat Brave Story, I'll tackle them in succession.

That's it. The end. Do you want to be a Pepper, too?

Confirmed: no run-and-gun in Resident Evil 5. Ever.

I'm having a hard time getting excited about this game. What the fudge is it with me having to babysit a (liability) secondary character? What is this, Army of Twoisdent Evil? Crap, Capcom, what the hell? This is the crappiest little gimmick you've added to the RE series. I know that there was something similar done in RE0, but that game was slower paced, thus giving the shitty AI reason to fire one round per minute. But since this is a Gears of War clone what with the advocacy for steroid use and all, I guess you can't expect much when you're attempting to cater to a lesser audience like the Americans. All they can think about is their guns which makes me think that they are compensating for something. I think the Japanese need to stick to what they know best and let the rest of the world produce the (cough, crap, cough) games that they themselves know and love best.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift getting patch

Jan 27th 2009 1:26AM (Joystiq Playstation - Bad)
At least with Japanese games you don't have to worry about patches. Odd how the Japanese are able to make something right on the first even though it may take some time unlike all of the other(ahem) nationalities that are involved in game development. Japan FTW!!!

Assassin's Creed 2 officially confirmed, with us by March 2010

Jan 22nd 2009 4:06PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I kinda have mixed feelings where Assassin's Creed 2 is concerned. I thought the first game was ok. The stealth stuff was alright and the combat, though it needed some tweeking, was pretty good. Getting around the cities was the best part of the entire game. I felt that that portion was given the most attention while the rest of the game seemed to have been given a cursory once over.

The ending also needed some work because it wasn't until I checked out an FAQ that I found I had indeed beaten the game. Wierd, I know, but true. The story was descent. The future twist was great. The thing that killed the game for me, as it apparently did for a lot of other people, was the damn repitition. Hopefully, with sequel, most or all of the problems will addressed. I'll give the game a shot when it come out.

I give my Assassin's Creed review a four out of five stars.
