To: My old email address; Subject: Why did you kill my Gamertag?

This happened with my girlfriend's account last year. I called MS and they said there was nothing they could do, we would have to make another Gamertag. I was pretty pissed.

Microsoft on RROD: The worst is behind us

Feb 17th 2009 12:58PM (Joystiq)
Once the original RROD problem is resolved, then you will run into other issues like my newest Halo Edition 360. A single red flashing light which of course isn't the same as the three flashing so it's not covered. But oh boy I got a free month of Live out of it and it only cost me $99 bucks!!!!Yaaaaaay

Blockbuster integrates games into Total Access subscription [update]

I'm not sure about your question of whether the quality will be that of Netflix and Gamefly. Granted, Netflix does receive and send movies quick in my experience, but their streaming service needs a lot of work (with the 360 at least). Now Gamefly is another story. A couple years ago, it was exactly like Netflix. You put games in a list, and they send you the games in order. Sometime in the last year and a half or maybe longer, they adopted this multi-tiered "availability" system. There are about 5 different types of availability, but if it isn't listed as "available now" don't count on seeing that game. I would have 30 games in a list, and consistently receive number 7 or 10 on my list. I've given them multiple tries and each time they have disappointed. The only good thing about gamefly was if you actually got a game you wanted, the option to Keep It was very cool and you ended up with a used game MUCH cheaper than you could get it at Game$top.

With that said I am anxious to see how Blockbuster does.

Halo Wars demo now accepting recruits via the XBLM

Feb 5th 2009 12:13PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Well, just a tip that I found out after I sent my 360 back....if you feel comfortable with it anyway. If your 360 has any problems BUT the 3 flashing red and your "standard" warranty is expired, there is a way to overheat it so bad that you get 3 flashing every time, which they cover under an extended warranty. You can do some googling on it if needed.

Netflix app rallies 1 million activations on Xbox 360

Instead of more content, I would much rather have consistent streaming speeds first. I have no issues watching things in the middle of the day but between 6-10pm PST it is almost unwatchable. I'm using a wired connection and a speed test from my laptop while the quality is crappy shows 9MBs down and 1mb up. I've read a lot of Time Warner people experience this but if I stream from my laptop the quality looks fine. Confusing, but I just want a clear picture without seeing "we're adjusting blah blah"!!

Halo Wars demo now accepting recruits via the XBLM

I would love to grab this demo if it weren't for the fact that my HALO edition 360 just RRoD'd on me and its now on a trip to the repair center. Oh yeah, 100 bucks later since I had not three red rings, but a single one. You know, because somehow that makes it my fault. Anyway, hope all of you have fun!

Bach reminds us why the 360 won't get Blu-ray

Jan 9th 2009 1:50PM (Joystiq Xbox)
What I meant was, look at EA and all the other major publishers. They are already printing bluray discs for the PS3, it probably costs them more to print two different types of media. I have both consoles so I don't really care if the 360 gets one, but his comment about publishers shouldn't have to produce games on bluray doesn't make sense if they already are for PS3.

"We can't have publishers produce games on Blu-ray disc."

But MOST of the 360 publishers are anyways for all those multi-console games!
