EA's Riccitiello: Fail well and learn from it
May 24th 2011 11:55AM (Joystiq)PS3 users report LA Noire overheating issues, Rockstar and Sony respond [update: Freezing issues also reported for PS3, 360]
May 19th 2011 5:20PM (Joystiq)Nahhh. You are taking from your arse. Lately games are made very similar and in some cases, even better on the PS3.
Recent examples uncludes:
Dead Space 2
Castlevania:LOS
LA Noire
Mortal Kombat 9
Brink
And many more to come. What you said was true in 2007-2009, but after that, the multiplaform games are pretty much the same on both consoles and like I said, some are better on the PS3.
Are you playing L.A. Noire in black and white?
May 19th 2011 12:14PM (Joystiq)Playing in Black and White gives that old films feelings that really adds up to the mood, and add the fact that around my house is pretty much silent at any time of the day so is like I'm living in that era.
On the other hand, playing in Black and White makes me feel that I'm losing a lot of details within this game, as GTA games are very detailed and have many detailed scenarios. (yes I know this is not GTA game, but it uses the same premise, game engine and play style)

Buy Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition from Capcom, get evil Bobble Budds
May 4th 2011 10:31AM (Joystiq)I dont remember any other gaming company besides Capcom trying milking a franchise this hard and this blatant way.
I understad some company trying to push their now-usual:
Stantard edition
pre-GOTY edition
GOTY edition
But with Capcom is fuc***g ridiculous. They just the the same game over and over with just little improvements. They dont even improve game engine, textures, no nothing. They just add some characters some little online tweaks, rinse and sell it again.
I'm glad that I dont buy nothing from them. The only game that I just bought this gen was RE5, because I love the series (not the game), but I think that at least this gen, I will not buy something off them.
Remedy's Myllyrinne pushing for digital future
May 4th 2011 10:20AM (Joystiq)Remedy's Myllyrinne pushing for digital future
May 3rd 2011 9:23PM (Joystiq)Nice fancy words covering the truth behind: There's more chance to take money from the gamers.
Look, right now, there ones little thing that publishers are not happy with, and that is the "used market". The used market is a fair and valid market in any other industry, being cars, consumer electronics, etc.
Of course that publishers are going to opt for a downloadable-only market, because this way, they ensure that the used market will be virtually inexistent.
Justifications like lower prices, better releases, etc, are just smoke and mirrors. Right now, the prices in digital version of retail games are the same. Look at ME2 for PS3, they both cost the same digital-only or physical retail.
If the market turns into a digital only, the prices will be the same as now, or even higher, as publisher now will gain control of every byte of the game.
Now, the prices stay as they are, because they have a strong competitor: the used market. If some publisher sell the game at $80, the gamers will wait until the prices goes down or get it from the used market, so publisher better sell it at some reasonable price.
With digital only, how we defend? If you want some game, they will be at the same price forever, unless they do some discount or something, but that's another story.
The day when this industry becomes a digital only, that will be the day when I quit gaming.
